I remembered that story from my younger days. I identify in some respects with Thomas' struggles. The full name you can blame on my avocation as a wordsmith and punster.

It comes down to the definition of the words atheist, skeptic and agnostic. I view skeptic as meaning someone who believes in God but can't quite wrap their heads around the last few details. A lot of the christians and most "Atheists" (they aren't really they're just posing) who come through here would fall into that category. Agnostic: a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience*. I disagree with that last bit. So atheist, one who doesn't believe in God, is the best fit for my beliefs right now.

Hey, I really appreciate the invitation, and I'm sorta flattered in a strange way, but like I said I'm not ready for that kind of commitment.
But who knows God's plan, after all? Certainly not me. If I thought I did, I'd write a book and go on Oprah. Then again, if I thought I could disprove God somehow, I'd write a book and go on Letterman. I'm here as a student of religion, not a teacher.
