    Hello.

I currently am a member of a non-denominational Protestant Christian Church. While the atmosphere is loving and the works of God praised, I have spotted a few contradictions in their styles, most notably the allowance of female Pastors and women in other positions of authority over man.

I am considering a change to become a Baptist and to renounce my former evil ways. Before I do this, however, I have a few questions as to some specifics of what you believe.

Thanks in advance. God is Love.

What do we believe? Why the Bible, the Holy KJV1611, word for word right down to the letter. Is there any other way? Females should be pregnant and in the kitchen.

Landover Baptist Faith and Message statement
"The Holy Bible, KJV1611, was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture therein is totally true and trustworthy.”

I am a little disturbed by your unqualified "
God is Love." statement. Could you expand on that?

More specifically, when Brother Jeb states that God made the Earth round for Columbus, when specifically do you all believe it happened? Right before his voyage? During?

Furthermore, Id like to take this time to applaud everyone here on their strict interpretations of the Bible. I have become sickened by 'Christians' who make up interpretations on the spot in order to support their own selfish and evil goals.

Strict interpretation of the Bible and the Constitution, please!

Its what I was raised on and currently believe.

He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love. John 4:8

If I am reading this wrong I urge everyone to correct my error so I can reach salvation.

Nothing worse than Cafeteria Christians, you must enjoy all of the Bible, not just what pleases you.

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Matthew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

You cannot just believe & have faith in God, you must love God also to fully know him.

                    Re: God is Love;
While your heart may be in the right place, your head is up the dark and stinky place. For every scripture verse imparting a warm fuzzy, there are 6.71 verses describing God as vengeful and just as likely to smite you on the spot as look at you.

                    Yea Verily?

                    Amen
                    Nahum 1:2

God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

If God is Love ... Who created Hell??!!

First things first, please do be most careful when quoting God's Word. the verse John:4:8: (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Does not seem at first sight to be applicable, whereas 1John:4:8 is the verse you mentioned.

Here we look to a verse later in the Chapter:

1Jo:4:20: If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

This puts all in context. We love each other but what of the enemies of God? Those God hates with a Perfect hatance? Ah, We should shun them.

So 1Joh:4:8 is a verse that is general rather than specific and I'm sure the Gospel Writer would have wanted us to read ALL God had to say.

True Christians™ have then a dual role: to love each and every other True Christian™ but to loathe the unrighteous.
