Obviously should be taken literally - no debate about that, words straight from God.

However a story that has been retold by a writer of one of the books of the Bible maybe should be taken metaphorically.

Leviticus 19:10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.

Rather than literally leaving grapes out for the poor, that verse says to help those in need through charity.
But Leviticus 19:10 is part of a series of laws headed with

Lev. 19:1: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

This means, of course, that Lev. 19:10 is also a statement of words straight from God. Therefore, your logic is self-defeating.

Are you not capable of understanding the difference between human-motivated killing -- that is, murder -- and God-directed execution?

Or do you merely think you get to pick and choose the parts of the Bible you like, and treat the rest as so much toilet paper?

Tell me -- I want you to go look it up -- what is the PUNISHMENT for working on the Sabbath?

Just evidence that the Bible is somewhat out dated for modern society and should not be taken literally.
Were not friend. Quite a few places in The Laws says that anyone executed for breaking God's law killed themselves. "The blood is on their head" is the phrase The Bible uses in numerous places. We are not cheery picking, it is you that is are ignoring the rest of scripture.

        Let's make this simple

I kill you because I don't like you = murder and wrong

The community kills you for breaking The Law = righteous act.

        You see the difference?

I didn't ask you what I believe. I asked you what God commanded as the punishment for working on the Sabbath.

                2. God said not to us humans in sacrafice
                3. Killing one's son is not a good thing to do

If you would be willing to kill your own son in ignorance of those reasons, then you are a horrible and sinful person who belongs in the depths of hell.
So, by that "especially", I take it you are pretty much admitting that some people deserve to live less than others do? You must be, otherwise there'd be no point mentioning. Good work, you're making some progress. Now, let's try another one: If God told you to "go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass", would you utterly massacre the entire tribe and all their animals, or would you decide that that was "not a good thing to do" and spare Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and... not utterly destroy them?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

So you consider switching on a light as work? Just how lazy are you?

I know you're picking that up from the Jews, but they've been playing a game with themselves for centuries now. One group sits around trying to expand the rules to make it basically impossible to live, and another group sits around figuring out how to get around those rules. Personally I find it entertaining to watch from the guidelines.

Even Jesus said that we should feed our animals on the Sabbath.

Romans 14:5-6 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Colossians 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Then what do you suppose this means?

Numbers 15:32-36: And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.
