    Can you explain that one?
This is a phenomenon which has gripped many "churches" in recent years. You see, in the 1960's all the hell-bound hippies decided that they wanted to start their own "churches" dedicated to free love. No one was buying it because all their money was spent on mary-jane, so they joined cherry picker congregations. (The cherry pickers are the ones who think that Jesus said we must always turn the other cheek, John 3:16'ers who haven't read the rest of the bible, Etc. In other words, trying to make the bible and church into some fluffy bunny, homersexual revival.)

These are the same "Baptist" churches which say that God is okay with gay members and ministers.
"If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. . . . And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the manservant's do."
    (Leviticus 21:6-7)

Thank you Rev. Davidson for taking the time to reveal the Truth. I am sure you are very busy with God's work. I did not know such trickery existed.

It's almost like they think there's something inherently wrong with the Bible's holy and timeless moral compass that's turning away the people who fill the collection plate with cash and they're desperate to jump through any hoop necessary to keep people coming through the door.

How lukewarm and faithless can you get? Indulge the earthly lusts of the flock to keep the money flowing and to Hell with their souls. Meanwhile the very people who steadfastly toil to keep True Salvation alive are derided and persecuted by the same fluffy heretics for their firmly loving approach to warning people of the peril to their immortal souls.

God will have the last laugh.

the liberal in Liberal Baptist or Liberal Christianity does not refer to any political leaning. These churches focus more on the teachings of scripture and focus less on the miracles and superstitions. Hope that is enough of an explanation.

So you're saying, if I understand you correctly, that they pick and choose which parts of Scripture "work" for them, and ignore the rest?

I didn't say pick and choose. You did. I said focus on moral teachings of scripture, focus less on miracles and superstition.

studying the moral teachings of scripture and the works of Jesus and focusing on trying to live your life. by those rules is one thing. Believing in an octogenarian building a large seafaring vessel then loading it with all the beasts, clean and unclean and provisions for animals for forty days and nights. And provisions for his family. Well that's quite another.

Again didn't pick and choose. Moral teachings. Great flood huge ark and all that...again a bit much. However the flood destroyed the wickedness and God saved the righteous. Moral of story: live righteously. Live a wicked life you will pay.

hat does matter is a lot of bad stuff happened yet Job persevered. I think the author was telling us bad stuff is gonna happen to you in this life. Perhaps was also telling, you think you've got it bad, it could be worse.
If Jesus taught with parables, why wouldn't God teach with parable through the men that wrote His word in the Old Testament.
Just a thought. Also I was just paraphrasing the stories used.

So basically anything that makes you think God must be a bit special is, in your high opinion, a bit far-fetched and worthy of a bit of mental gymnastics. Why stop there? Why not say that Jesus Himself is also a fable and in fact the whole thing is just a bunch of man-made arbitrary rules dressed up to look like the workings of an imaginary God?

In short, why not be an atheist?

That's what you are, isn't it!

God will know your heart, friend. It's time to repent, kneel and accept Jesus in all His majesty, not Jesus as you'd have Him be so you can bugger small boys and satisfy your lusts.

So you think you can pick and choose which parts of the KJV are historically accurate and which parts are, as you call them, fairy tales? I think you'll find that God Himself has a different opinion on the matter.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

No part of the KJV is a fairy tale, kevin. The only fairy tale that exists is that God will not cast you into the pits of hell (along with all your atheist, devil worshiping, liberal, homo friends) for doubting His most holy word.

In that case, where are you on the laws of Leviticus? Do you, like many so-called churches, think that Jesus came to nullify them by his temporary death and resurrection?
"If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. . . . And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the manservant's do."

For starters, I'm not a church normember. Just a man.
Those laws are for God's chosen people, since I'm not one, then no I don't observe. I don't believe Jesus died for sins. Deut. 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the coleen, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. Also Jesus couldn't be son of God according to Isaiah 44:6 I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. So Isaiah is saying, that God has no father, no offspring and no god next to him. So did God lie about being the last and decide to have a son later.
By the way, all verses cited are quoted from King James Bible.
