What about the talking donkey in Numbers 22 bigmouth? An accepted scientific fact for the last two thousand years and you're trying to argue it with something that happened 6 billion years ago with no literature to defend it?

    NUMBERS 22

28And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
29And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee. 30And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? and he said, Nay

Right. A bunch of guesses that work until they find out they don't work, which they always do. Which keeps happening over and over. Then they come up with a new theory, that works for a while... A fun game, I guess, if you're into that sort of thing. I prefer to stick with facts instead of guesses.

Why hasn't God made himself visible just like in the Old Testament? He talked to Moses through a burning bush, and he walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Why can't he do that now?
He has. What do you think the Bible is? It's right there. Proof of God that absolutely anyone can see. You don't think it wrote itself do you? That would be ludicrous.

        Re: Hello everybody!

The Bible itself has errors in it. In the Gospel of Luke, It says that Jesus' birth was connected to a worldwide census, believed as the Census of Quirinius, but in the Gospel of Matthew, it connects the birth with King Herold's reign has king. The problem is that King Herold died in 4 BC, while the census took place in year 6 AD. Herold also commanded to kill all of the newborns, how could he do this if he was already dead?

Herod, not Herold. And there was more than one Herod. Google it if you don't believe me.

Hmmm. Oddly I'm doubting the veracity of your statement.

I'll have to request that one of Landover's pastors further instructs me on how best to minister to unbelievers. Clearly logic isn't the right approach.

Maybe this thread should be locked now.

No sir, you have really been a big help. I've accepted Christ as my personal saviour. I was so blinded by the science atrocity that I was ignoring what was completely in front of me. Sorry for making two posts, btw.

Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the Word of God, and the Jews believe in the Torah and the Old Testament. Is there any physical evidence that the Bible is the right choice?
I appreciate you actually having a discussion with me about this.
                          Oh dear!

Look, friend, if God wanted us to understand Him then He would have told us exactly why He made all His decisions. However, God quite specifically tells us that we aren't meant to understand Him, that it's futile to try and that we should just get on with praising Him and doing as we are told.

It would be a lot less emotionally painful for you if you just accepted that the Bible is the inerrant word of God and that Jesus is your personal saviour. Why trouble yourself with trying to understand God on a personal level?

Job 37:5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend

Job 11:7 Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Psalm 145:3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.

If there's one thing God tells us over and over again it's to stop worrying about the why and just get on and do the right thing. He has given you a user manual for how to go to Heaven that's clear and unambiguous and you reject it and dare to go against these warnings. Well it's your loss.

Do as you are told, do not question His authority. Where's the problem?

                            Re: Hello everybody!

This warms the cockles of my heart. To see a confused young man coming on our humble forum, spread open eyes and and mind. Listening and calmly searching for the Truth(r).
He learned that if it does not kill you, it makes you stronger. What makes you stronger brings you closer to God. I a sure he slept soundly last night, secure in the knowledge that Jesus was with him and had his back.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
