    Greetings.

Hello everyone. I am here because I'm having some trouble, I can look at the bible but I am having difficulty maintaining faith. I find myself less than fully convinced by some aspects of the Bible and I do not see how I can have unwaivering faith in something if I see points to question.

    Please help me, thanks.

I do not know, they were killed in a car accident when I was 5 months old and the people who raised me refused to discuss faith or religion, they said it was our right to explore it when we were able to properly understand what was being taught. (There were 3 of us raised by them along side their own daughter.) I have only been to church for weddings & funerals. I am partly here because, due to various reasons, I can't go to a church currently. So I am resorting to what seems like the next best option.

I didn't see this response in time and there is no edit button. I will try to provide some examples.

Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible? Look up these verses:
            • - Exodus 35:2 – God demands that we kill everyone who works on the Sabbath day.- Deuteronomy 21:18-21 – God demands that we kill disobedient teenagers.
              - Leviticus 20:13 – God demands the death of homosexuals.
              - Deuteronomy 22:13-21 – God demands that we kill girls who are not virgins when they marry.

It doesn't make any sense to me, why would a loving God want us to murder our fellow human beings over such things? For example imagine a farmer in ancient china had a bad season and must tend to his fields otherwise his family will starve and die, so he works on the Sabbath, does that mean he is a sinner and must die for working selflessly to provide for them? How can God send a nice Chinese man who never heard of Jesus but worked hard to feed his family, committed some sins like the rest of us, and died – to hell to burn forever in agony? Isn’t the punishment way out of proportion with the crime? Why does God’s system of justice seem so different than that which He built in to us? In fact how can God justify sending billions of people who have never heard the gospel, to hell, when the Bible itself says “How can they believe in Him whom they’ve not heard?” and “How can they hear without a preacher?” (Rom. 10:14) (Rom. 1:18-21 says sinners are without excuse because of the testimony of nature and the conscience God built into them, but then Rom. 3:23 says all have sinned, and Ro. 10:9-10 says in order to get saved you must believe Jesus was resurrected and say He is Lord with your mouth, which means it is necessary for a person to hear and know the gospel story in order to get saved, as Rom. 10:14 clearly states.)

If God is all loving and cares about us, why does he advocate the torture and suffering of human beings brought on by their brothers & sisters?

            Look up these Bible verses:
            • - Exodus 21:20-21 – God says that it is OK to own slaves, and it is also OK to beat them.- Colossians 3:22-24 – Slaves need to obey their masters.
              - Ephesians 6:5 – Slaves need to obey their masters just as they would obey Christ.
              - 1 Peter 2:18 – Slaves need to obey their masters, even if their masters are harsh .

There are a few things in the bible which completely contradict each other.

The Word of God says plainly, “There is no man that sinneth not” (1 Kings 8:46), indeed, “There is not a just man upon earth that doeth good and sinneth not” (Ecc. 7:20).

The Lord Jesus Christ said, “I am the light of the world” (Jn. 8:12), and “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness” (Jn. 12:46). There is no way to be saved apart from coming to the Light, that is, coming to the Lord Jesus Christ, because “there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Ac. 4:12). So, people are saved when they come to the light.

The Word of God says very plainly: “EVERY ONE that doeth evil hateth the light, NEITHER COMETH TO THE LIGHT” (Jn. 3:20). Therefore, since all men are sinners, they all fall into the category of “every one that doeth evil”—therefore all men hate the light and do not come to it. But, if the Holy Spirit-inspired text of Scripture says, “Every one that doeth evil (every human being) hateth the light (Jesus Christ), neither cometh to the light”, then every time someone is saved, it makes God a liar because He said the only way a person can be saved is to come to Jesus Christ, the Light of the world.

So since people are being saved every day, did God lie when He stated that all human beings hate the light and none of them come to the light? Was He mistaken when He said that, or is there another possible explanation?
How can people be coming to the light and getting saved when the all knowing omnipotent God says nobody ever comes to the light?

And I have a few general questions but I have gotten carried way.

Which "Ten Commandments" are the Ten Commandments - the ones listed in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5, or the ones listed at Exodus 34? Only the list at Exodus 34 is explicitly called the "Ten Commandments" in the biblical text.

Finally, do you ever wonder if you may have chosen the wrong God? With over 4.5 Billion people believing in the Islamic, Hindu or Buddhist teachings do you ever consider that they may be right? Statistically speaking we are more likely to be incorrect than correct.

I'm sure these are things you've all had to consider, but with no one to bounce my thoughts and concerns off it all seems a little overwhelming.

            -David

                Re: Greetings.

Mr. Chambers, the questions you ask we can certainly forgive. After all, you are being tested of the Lord even now.

When your parents were providentially killed, you were left with infidels who raised you irreligiously, as you stated. This made you a godless, wandering soul. And here you are coming to us for answers. The day of judgment will determine whether you are truly seeking or truly rebelling with your questions (I Corinthians 3:13).

Now, to your questions; first, yes, God demands that we kill homosexuals, non-virgins on the wedding night, sabbath breakers, and disobedient teenagers among many, many others. And, yes, that is under ALL circumstances because the scriptures can never be broken (John 10:35). So your Chinese sabbath-breaker illustration is meaningless, not to mention ill-formed since the godless, stick-worshipping slant-eyed types God has long since hated and caused earthquakes and tsunamis to punish them.

God never cares how sincere we are, just so long as his rules are kept (Matt 7:21-23). Get things wrong on even ONE POINT and it's as if you're a drug-dealing, child-rapist murderer and you deserve every bit of the hell that's coming to you (James 2:10).

Now, as to the "contradiction" of those hearing and coming to Jesus, that made me laugh. Jesus explains his will perfectly...

"40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:40)

So if we don't come groveling on our knees to Jesus and begging him to save us while uttering the plan of salvation (Romans 10:9-10) after having heard his word, he'll have us ripped to pieces and our souls cast into an eternal hell (Mark 9:43). Anyone lucky enough to have heard of Jesus and who refuses to come to him deserves their eternal torment in the hell he created.

So I hope you can see, friend, there are answers, and they're in the KJV Bible. Side note: Just because some of us aren't ready to accept the answers, well, that's their problem. Hell is for people like them!

                Pastor Ed

                    I disagree.

Any questions you have should originate with YOU. If you post someone else's thoughts, you aren't thinking for YOURSELF.

Also, when you are directly quoting someone, you should at the very least give them proper attribution. For instance, when I quote the KJV Bible on here, I put exactly where I got it from.

(Jeremiah 23:30) "Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour."

Look, anyone can Google and find something to bolster their preconceived notions. How about cracking open an actual BIBLE and find out for yourself? Read it cover-to-cover (it takes less time than you think) without skipping a single word.

                    Yours in Christ,

                    Z. Smyth

                      Re: Greetings.

                      Why does God
Job 37:5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

Job 37:16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

And so on and so on. This is a small fraction of the number of times God basically tells us He has His own reasons for doing things and we are incapable of understanding. If God did it it was perfect. There is no debate. You should instead busy yourself with doing as you are told.

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Those are indeed important questions even though you cut-and-pasted them. I'm a bit more lenient than Pastor Ezekiel because I was use to teaching from grade school through college, especially grade school and I know how difficult it can be for some children to express themselves. For them it is easier to let others field the questions.

Having said that, I want to tell you that if you exert the effort to read each and every post on the Landover Baptist Church message board by True Christians(tm), these and every other questions which others think of and you cut-and-paste will be answered for you. I'm surprised you haven't encountered the answers to those questions here already. If those questions hadn't already been asked and answered a hundred times here at LBC, I would help you with them but I do so dislike reinventing the wheel every couple of weeks. Right now I have to get back to my new solid disk or a rigid circular ring connected by spokes to a hub, designed to turn around an axle passed through the center invention.

The answers to those questions should fortify your faith and help you understand your 1611 King James Bible.

I'm just waiting for the day when some atheist writes a computer script to automatically copy and paste random questions and statements from atheist sites. Heck, they could probably automate the entire process of opening an account and posting a thread.
