My dear, "depression" is just a worldly person's way of saying: "I suck and am a loser and am all about me, and I don't want to get out and do anything like help others or worship God!"

Depression is nothing. The condition was essentially made up by liberal Jooi$h doctors. If you quit thinking about yourself and try, you'll feel better. Read the KJV Bible for a start!

My goodness! God really has smitten your family. It would seem that one of your ancestors really made God angry and he has punished the iniquity for generations.

Have you tried praying properly? If so and it hasn't worked, perhaps deep in your heart you are whining and blaming God and finding Him unfair and arbitrary (in your arrogance) rather than praising Him for giving you a clear signal that you are worthless trash and need to get right with Him.

It might take a lifetime of suffering just so your soul is OK to go to Heaven, but I think you'll agree that it's worth thanking Him for the opportunity to be saved.

...though I do worry sometimes, late at night while trying to sleep...what if it's all a lie? A lie someone started up two thousand years ago to control the people, and give them Hope? To stop them from rebelling, because it's okay if they abuse you in this life, because the people who did it will burn in the next. There's not nearly enough justice in this world, so why not give them something that will keep them happy thinking of it and that will stop them from seeking justice on their own? Something to stop the people from going insane, because can any of you imagine a world without god, or an afterlife?

The thought terrifies people; they cover their ears and block it out and try not to think about it. That's probably my worst fear, if it's actually the truth and this is the only life we get.

Any advice...?

You misunderstand God, dear. You do not have to try. Jesus did all the work for you. By dying for a long weekend, spending a few hours in pain and a few days visiting friends in the spiritual realm, His temporary sacrifice accomplished all that your efforts could never accomplish. All you need to do is trust Him.

If you are not cured, it is simply because you have not yet been grafted onto the vine. Did Jesus suffer from arthritis or depression? No. If you were actually Saved, you would no longer suffer either because you would no longer be you, but you would be Him. Only, you would still look like you. Well, without the crippling arthritis. (Galatians 2:20)

I never said he was a liar, where did that come from? I merely ask for strength to help get me through this dark time in my life. I suppose you could argue that He hasn't taken away my depression because He's testing me, not because He hates me or something else so foolish to assume. Surely you've all felt there are times where He's given you obstacles to overcome, too?

Either He was telling the truth, or He was not.

Jesus said ALL things. Not, as many false Christian pastors would have you believe, "any thing that is already consistent with God's Will". After all, those things are going to happen anyway, so your prayer would be of no effect.

I don't refuse; refusing implies that I don't want to open myself. But I do, even when I'm doubting. I want to believe, and I don't know how to convince myself that it's just me being paranoid. That's why I asked, any advice?

There is room in Heaven for you, once you deserve to be there. From what I’ve heard so far, it seems like you have some work to do though. In particular, I think you might be focusing a little too much on whining about this arthritis of yours.

Complaining is a sign of being ungrateful and can lead to disobedience
