  • Can someone explain this?

Reading the posts of senior (and smarter) members, I noticed that according to bible, people go to hell if their ancestors sinned, and also when someone commits a great sin - the whole nation is doomed. That makes no sense to me. Everyone should have control over their future, but this contradicts the freedom that god gave us. He doesn't look so loving to me.

    It's because you're stupid.

Isaiah 55:9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And my thoughts than your thoughts."

    Hope this helps.

Perhaps you could point us to the scriptures that you are struggling with. Because none of what you just said makes any sense at all.

I think you might be referring to Exodus 34:6,7
And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
As you can see, God clearly shows here that He will punish children down the generations for their ancestor's sins. He also shows that He considers this kind and merciful therefore it is kind and merciful. Why does this surprise you? It is not a secret or God wouldn't have wanted it written down.

John 5:46,47 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

It make no sense to me. So for example, you are born into Christian family and lived your life like one, but you are still going to burn in hell because of your ancestors. Don't people like this have any chance to enter heaven?

As a True Christian™ and New Creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), I am not doomed (Romans 6:8). I am simply awaiting my invitation to come Home! (John 14:2-4)

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

No, the sins of MY ancestors make no difference. I am a New Creature in Christ, not the old creature that was born in sin.

You make it sound like you can earn your own way into Heaven.

Romans 8:29-30 "29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

All we can do is praise God, and pray He chooses us to join in His Kingdom, and if He doesn't, then shout glory and hosannah as He casts us into the everlasting torment of fire and brimstone, where the worm dieth not.

                Can I get an amen?

Why you asking us? Ask God. He leads, we follow. That's why our lives are so peaceful.

Look, even the scientists are correct on this point - although they phrase it differently. If you're a retard then all your children will be retarted and their children's children will be retarted. Does that help explain it?

Where does the Bible say that God gave you freedom? He has given us True Christians(tm) freedom from the bondage of sin.

Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

                      But you're not a Christian.

Jn 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

You are enslaved to sin and are not free to do any good.

Jer 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

But even we Christians don't have any control over our future.

Jas 4:13-15 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

It is in God's hands. Your outrage at God's punishing people for ancestral sins comes from the false belief that God gave everyone freedom, but He didn't. Anyway, if there are no ancestral sins in your family tree, I'm sure you've committed enough sins in your own right to warrant an eternity in hell. You were a sinner from the moment of conception.

Ps 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Can't you see God's handiwork all around you? He has revealed His invisible attributes, His love and mercy and justice, to everyone through creation (Rom 1:20). God invites you to turn to Him for healing if He has opened your eyes and softened your heart.

                      Jn 12: 37-40
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
sigpicMt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

My children are my property until such time as they are married off (girls) or have grown into their majority (boys). What kind of idiot would want his property damaged? This means it's a good threat of punishment by God and would make me think twice before sinning. How is this difficult to understand?
