    Hello & Questions

Hello Landover Baptists- I'm really not here to troll and force my opinions and ideals on you, because I don't believe that actually works in communicating effectively with people of other beliefs.

But I am sincerely curious about this religion.. For the majority of my life, going to Catholic elementary school, I knew there were other denominations of Christianity- but I had no idea people actually followed the Bible SO literally (as opposed to following it contextually as I was taught to do as a child)

On a side note; I believe it was the sheer fact that I attended a Catholic/Christian elementary school was what made me turn away from the religion in my teen years. As you obviously know and clearly do not approve of, Catholics pick and choose bits from the Bible to teach, and the majority of the time when I was given a Bible it was to read out of the New Testament.
I was kind of a bad little kid, and I would always skim through the Bible while the class was reading whatever Jesus had to say about fish and bread. I would read through the Old Testament on my own. I would have had no idea that "gnashing of teeth" and things like that were in the Bible if I hadn't done my own investigation.

ANYWAY, I just have a few sincere questions that I don't feel I have seen effectively answered while browsing through posts. (It's probably because most people who ask you negative questions start to throw in insults and that just ruins it for everybody!)

    i) God is divine, and is not a physical being in the way that a human is. (Numbers 23:19- not a man, has divine power over man.)
God also hates. Well he "abhors." I don't even feel the need to dig up a Scripture for that one.
Consider that God is divine and unhuman- so how is it that he can posses human emotion? Emotions are produced by the physical brain. So how can this be? I have always sincerely wondered this.

Annnd lets wrap this up with

ii) Science has made many valid points against religion, but it has also contributed to proving that a lot of the Bible was actually real. (Science proved that Jesus actually existed- Scientists and historians are the people to thank for any contributing proof to the Bible being historically accurate.)
Do you give Science any credit whatsoever? Do you think praying is enough to sustain life, or do you believe that we need aspects of Science to stay innovative and keep the population alive? (Sorry for the strong bias undertones there.)

    Sorry for the novel.

Why do you hate God? Why are you not accepting His word as fact and doing His bidding? Do you not know this will condemn you to Hell?

You really are over thinking this.

John 5:46,47 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Hey hey hey, I don't hate anybody or anything. I thought my questions were sincere and analytical. I understand this is not a debate forum, but look. You have a genuinely curious person asking YOU, the people who know this religion best, for clarification on these little unanswered questions.

The questions I have asked are not things I have been able to find in the Bible or on this website. So how can they be answered?

So do you love God? If you don't you're in trouble.
Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

You seem to be out to find reasons to reject our Lord. This is not loving. What's the opposite of love?

Welcome, young lady! We know that God created us in His image, but not to what degree. Since we know that God clearly does righteously hate, emotions must be included in the "image" He used.

Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

I love science! Provided it is scripturally based. Myself, I am an accomplished Theophysicist.

But science must always give God glory for His creation. Once God is removed from the equation, any number of filthy sins can creep into our lives and ultimately destroy us.

Where do you think we got our emotions? Here's a hint:

Genesis 1:26: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Also, if the Supreme Being says that He has emotions, we should take His word for it, since it is pointless for us to speculate as to His mental makeup:

Isaiah 55:8-9: For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

                Re: Hello & Questions

Your problem is that the catholic church has more to do with the old Roman paganism than it does with the Bible.

                1) We are to take the Bible literally
Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

                2) There's no secret messages in the Bible
2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

                3) The Pope and his hierarchy is bunk
I Timothy 2:5-6: For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

                4) God is not "love" and yes, he is capable of hate
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

I am sorry that you have been led down the wide path by people who wanted to take you to hell with them. But the GOOD NEWS is that you are now HERE and can learn about the Bible!

Matthew 7:13-15 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Thank you for this clarification! I really appreciate this answer, and it s nice to see that people are willing to express their own opinions on this one.

I understand the God's image bit now. I never really understood it before. I suppose it does make sense, and therefore I will accept that and move on.

I love Science as well! Congratulations on your accomplishments.

So given that God created Science, God created proof against his own existence, in a way. That is mind boggling.

Yes, like I said, it was the Catholic school system that drove me away from the whole thing altogether. I feel they advocate lies that they pull out from their asses. Granted, the messages they choose to teach young children in school are good lessons... Buy I cannot stand the fact that they all generally know so little about their religion and follow blindly. Most Catholics have no idea what is in the Bible they preach, and whether they would even agree with their unknown beliefs or not, they are advocating something that they do not understand.

Oop, you got me, I made a mistake. Humans, animals, and all around things with brains have emotions.

Daily life requires that people cope with distracting emotions--from the basketball player who must make a crucial shot amidst a screaming crowd, to a salesman under pressure delivering an...

"Their studies were based on previous findings that specific parts of an area of the brain called the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC)--a center for so-called "executive" control of neural processing--are connected to the amygdala. The amygdala is the brain's major center for processing emotional events."

^ There is a lot of BS in this article that gets off topic, but it also tulimately explains the emotional circuits of the brain.

                          *Phew*

                          And don't "NOW" me, mister!

Granted it's Wiki but this is actually an interesting read too.

Ugh, you're a troll. Making me waste my time looking up this shit.
