Sir, first off I do want to learn about this church. But it is hard to learn anything when all you do is call me unsaved, etc. If you really wanted people to be "saved" than you would spend less time on the hate and more time on actual talk. Instead of saying, "You papist, I shall pray for you" say hello and explain to me what you think I got wrong. For example, "We teach this about Mary and we have heard this about when you do from this source." So I correct you or you correct me.

Have an actual conversation!!! Yes, we are completely different but neither of us are COMPLETELY evil.

I can't stand papists.

Sir, I never said the church was perfect. It's made up of people and yes, people sin, no matter what religion. So I'm not saying these things aren't true: they might be. But in general, priests are not like that. You can't just say that because some people made big mistakes in a religion that the whole thing is horrible. That's like saying, "Well that brother is on drugs so the other one must be too."

I don't know the exact figures; maybe only a minority of priests have abused children. But one thing you can't deny is that a large proportion of your hierarchy, your archbishops and cardinals -- some of whom went on later to become popes -- have been complicit in actively covering up abuse. And I would think if you included those who passively covered up abuse through silence or inaction, you would find the majority of your hierarchy were guilty. How can you trust your church leadership? These are the guys who choose your pope, who is supposedly Christ's representative on earth. How can you believe anything they say? How can you support them? If what you say is true, that only a minority of priests are child molesters, I don't care. You can't claim only a tiny minority of bishops, archbishops and cardinals have covered up abuse.

I am not a papist; I am a Catholic. You are not the only ones who deserves respect: I know you may find this hard to believe, but God made me too. And you may threaten me with being banned but in reality, you are scared. Scared that someone, someone who is a "true Christian" will stumble upon this forum or one of my posts and start to question what you say. Start to realize that God is a God of love, not of hate. Start to wonder about life outside this forum and this church, where men beat pregnant women and say you are going to hell if you wear make-up.

Sir, how can I respect you or this church when you can't respect me or my religion? This is not a church: it is an online forum where supposed "true Christians" tell people they are going to hell. Never do you talk about God's love or about the worth of all people, no matter what race or gender. Never do I see a good, open discussion: yes, you throw out bible verses but how do I know you are living them? Just because you can quote the bible does not mean you are perfect or even good. It takes more than that.

Here is one of my favorite prayers to remind me of God's love:


Act of Love

O God, all that I am and all that I have is from You.
You have given me my gifts of body and soul.
You have numbered me among your favored children.
You have showered me with countless graces and blessings.
From all eternity, You have thought of me and loved me.

That is only a little bit of the prayer but I think it sums everything up. I think sometimes we get so into defending our faith and saving others that we forget to thank God for everything. I think that's what everyone on this forum is doing: so busy discussing that they forget about their relationship with God. I think that's what I've been doing. Maybe you too.

Anyway, Pastor, I would just like to say, I wish you the best. I know, an odd way to end this post but you know what, I'll probably be banned anyway.

I can't say what number of priests or other leaders in the church have hidden abuse. I really can't. I intend to look more into this so that I can present the facts. I would love to have a discussion than! And really, if you think about it, the only person you can really trust is God. Just saying!

No, we warn people about the direction their heading. If that isn't love, I don't know what is.

We call our Priest father. And here's what I have to say to the verse "Call no man father on earth, for you have one father who is in Heaven.

Alright, gentleman, have your bibles ready...

In Gen. 45 8, Joseph tells his brothers this, "So now it was not you who sent me here, but God: And he has made me a father to Pharoah, Lord of his entire household and ruler of Egypt." That was from KJ Bible.

Or this one, "I was a father to the poor: And the cause which I knew not I searched out." KJ BIBLE

There are more but the point is, father means protecter or a guide. Yes, God is the ultimate father but he sent other people to help us along the way. For me, including priests and my own father.

The verses you use indicate a father or "dad" relationship. None of us said you couldn't reference your father as a father. There are plenty such references in the Bible. Paul himself even used it to refer to father figures (I Cor. 4:15) The verse is dealing with false exaltation - something catlicks and jew$ have a problem with - such as in giving someone the religious title or office of FATHER, which is what your people do. That directly violates the passage. Here is proof in verses 5 through 8...

5But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. (Matthew 23:5-8)

So verse 9 then makes perfect sense. But if your position was true, then what application would the verse have? You've rendered it meaningless. It makes perfect sense to us, but not to you...because it condemns you.

I wonder if little missie here has prayed for her saints?

And then if you figure each saint has their own prayer.


Meanwhile missie here hasn't offered up one shred of evidence that the Bible supports any of this. I mean I've heard of polytheism, but isn't close to 10,000 gods getting to be a bit much?

Don't just tell me to get out a bible because that can be read a lot a different ways.

If you're reading a false bible, like the catholic bible, perhaps it can be read different ways. At the Council of Trent, the catholic church decided that the deuterocanonical books (Old Testament apocrypha) were on a par with the rest of Scripture. In effect, they added to Scripture, which is expressly forbidden (Deut 4:2; Rev 22:18-19). At what point were the apocrypha divinely inspired? When they were first written? If so, why were they rejected by both the early church and the joos? Or did they become divinely inspired only after 16 (or more) centuries, when your church suddenly decided they were? You can't trust the catholic Bible. But you should read it for yourself to see how many holes there are in it. And then read the real Bible, the 1611 KJV, which has the apocrypha at the end and a note in the foreword explaining that they are non-canonical, and see if you can spot the difference.

You do need to read and understand the Bible for yourself, although I know your catechism tells you you need the church to interpret the Bible.

"The task of giving an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, whether in its written form or in the form of Tradition, has been entrusted to the living teaching office of the Church alone. Its authority in this matter is exercised in the name of Jesus Christ."47 This means that the task of interpretation has been entrusted to the bishops in communion with the successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome. -- CCC 85

Our position is what you reach when you read the Bible for yourself and take it at face value and don't try to interpret it or twist it around. Don't rely on your church to tell you what the Bible means. Read it and understand it for yourself. That is the key to finding the truth.
