Of course it was a snake, that's what the text says.
You'll also notice that God cursed future generations of snakes, "thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field" (Genesis 3:14), which would be pretty unfair if the serpent was "correctly interpreted as Satan".
God then told the snake that "upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life" (Genesis 3:14). I'm sure we can agree, that Satan doesn't crawl around on his belly (Job 1:7; 1 Peter 5:8) and doesn't eat dust.
You use a concordance for checking individual words, not whole sentences.
