    New Introduction

    I see they're very strict at this Church about this and other things and they tell me I didn't make a good and proper introduction before so I'll try to do it here.

    I am an 18 year old woman. I was raised by atheist parents which I thought was okay because I didn't have to go to church and I liked that growing up. My husband is from the Middle East. He came here a month or so before we got married. I think he used to be a Muslim. He says he's becoming a Christian. I don't know if I want to be Christian. I better not say that I don't want to feel the sting of the willow switch on the back of my legs again. It really hurts. I ask questions about such things as how women are treated by proper Christians. Some have said i ask too many questions. How a woman should be punished for disobeying her husband, for breaking God's commandments and things like that.

    I don't have a church right now. My husband says he hasn't found one that's truly all with God. He says too many of them think adultery is okay because Jesus let that girl go rather than having her put to death when she was so obviously guilty

    Anyway, this is what God thinks about adultery:

    Leviticus 20:10 And the man that committeth adultery with [another] man's wife, [even he] that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

    Matthew 5:27-28
    27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
    28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.


    Mark 10:2-12

    2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away [his] wife? tempting him.
    3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
    4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put [her] away.
    5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
    6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
    7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
    8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
    9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
    10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same [matter].
    11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
    12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

    Hebrews 13:4 Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

      I am originally from Iowa. My husband is from the Middle East. When I was growing up my parents lived in places where there were lots of Mexicans. But aren't they mostly Christians?

        No, they are Catholics. Every Baptist knows that Catholics aren't Christians.

        Have you started reading the Bible yet? Assuming yes, what is your favorite verse (and please be more creative than saying it's Genesis 1:1)?

          I kinda of like John 6:8. But I've read it was put in there by liberals to make it look like God (and Jesus) was condoning adultery.

                These lieberals are really stupid, aren't they?

                This verse has nothing to do with adultery:

                John 6:8: One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

                This chapter deals with Jesus feeding lots and lots of people with few fishes and some bread, nothing about "sharing your wife" or whatever these liberals are into these days!

                  And, yeah, the thing about the Pericope Adulturae is well known to the True Christians™ (or anyone else who has the gumption to spend 3 seconds googling to find http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_8), so why exactly is that one of your favourites?

                      What about it, honey? This is a chapter where talks about lots of stuff, i.e. He says that Jews are children of Satan, not of God (John 8:42-44).

                      But like Didymus said, I see you are trying to refer to John 8:3-11. Why is this issue so important to you? Are you an adulteress?

                      Anyway. Note that Jesus does not say, "I forbid you to stone this woman." No; He said:

                      John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

                      Since all of these old pricks were either previously involved with that disgusting woman, or lustfully looking at and thinking about her at that very moment (I imagine she was less than fully dressed, since she was probably caught in flagranti), they could not possibly cast the first stone.

                      Now you may say, then Himself should cast the first stone, since He avoided looking lustfully at the harlot (John 8:6). Yet He decided to spare her. It's like all the sick and dying people, healed a few of them when He was walking on the earth, but now it doesn't matter how hard they pray, He kills them anyway.

                      The important thing is, that Jesus sends adulterers to :

                      1 Corinthians 6:9: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
                      God created fossils to test our faith.
