I have "read up" on Athens many a time, but it took us over 2000 years after that to do it again. That's why I used that number.

The Iroquois was just one tribe in thousands, granted a large tribe, but just one nonetheless. It took 2000 years for even a third of the world to become democracies, and most of those aren't true democracies anyways, like I said.
