Where did you find that picture of me? And I thought that my all too brief modelling career would be forgotten in the mists of time.

I thought that was you! I didn't want to say anything about the resemblence as I know how modest and private you are about your beauty. Just saying Sister, the sands of time have not formed a gritty crust on your lovely face.

Saturday is fine. Oh, and I presume that James has provided you with a sustantial stipend with which to buy bridesmaid gifts. Here in the States it's sort of a common thing for the bridesmaid gifts to be the jewelry the bride wishes her attendents to wear with their gowns. Pearls are nice for daytime weddings. I personally feel that the added sparkle of faceted stones should be reserved for evening ceremonies.

Oh as to James. Yes he has been very generous in dishing out the moolah!
Pearl necklaces are one of my favorite things and James even gave me one first thing this morning! He actually woke me up with his bountiful offering!

We have yet to decide on a time for the nuptials but I think a late afternoon ceremony, followed by a wonderful reception going into the wee small hours.

That being the case, diamonds would probably be best. Perhaps we should swing by Tiffany's whilst in NY too.

@ Sister Ruth. Thank you so much for your well wishes and we look forward to SEEING you at the wedding!! That's right, James has offered to fly anyone I want to attend, over to Freehold for the big day, yes Sister Ruth, even former wanton guttertrash like yourself.

Handmaiden, Phebe has my check book and I am sure that a trip to Tiffany's is in order. I made a phone call today, and arranged to have a few things ready. I got a look at a pink diamond ring and a string of pearls. I hope that you ladies enjoy them, if not pick out what ever pleases you. I also arranged a trip to a day spa for a little pampering, shopping can be stressful.

I’d thought after you admired the dresses I made for your Girls 4 God group for the last Purity Ball, you’d expressed an interest in ME sewing your wedding dress ? ?

I was going to do the traditional gray version on the far left, in a heavy white linen. (The surface is a little rough, but it’s an all natural single fiber.)

I started on that pattern for you because as a widow / married woman, I know firsthand how important it is to display modesty on the wedding day. On the honeymoon and after you may display more sophistication, but certainly not before.

I say this as a friend.

PS: I’ve started on the pattern at right for me. I’m using a gold lamé, because the Maid of Honor comes down the aisle first, and should represent the glory of God’s Holy Matrimony. She sort of sets the whole tone.

I thought the adjusted version on far left (with longer sleeves) would be nice for the regular bridesmaids (i.e., not me), maybe made up in one of those wonderful homespun fabrics the Widow Sharon weaves?

Another plus with this pattern is it's basically one-size-fits-all, so there's no endlessly tiresome fittings.

The trip was Brother James' idea. He and Vera (naughty euphemism) are former neighbors and he wants to give her the business and provide a witnessing opportunity to the many homers in her employ.

I'm only pushing for a skydiving girls' get together instead of tea sandwiches at parsonage. I don't want to put Mrs. Hardwick through any trouble while she's still settling in.
