He looks at the Bible. He sees there are words in there. He sees the order they're in. He reads the words in the book in the order they're in. The words in the book tell him that God doesn't like you or what you do or what you think or what you look like (probably) or your family or your friends or your taste in clothing.

24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

See the last verse there? Jews specifically asked for His blood to be on their hands, and Pilate washed his hands so he was no longer responsible. Happy now?
