  • Landover Buys Ancient Book

Landover is delighted to announce its contribution to peace in the world. A senior Pastor visited England, UK, last month and, at a fine art auction bid upon the "York Book of Hours". A volume richly illustrated by the Monks of Fountains Abbey in about 1273.

The final price was $575,000 but, as Pastor Zeke says, "There is no price to Faith."

The book will be displayed in the Reading Room of Landover Christian Library when a suitable display cabinet is available. In the meantime, it will be kept safe at "Flint Towers" under the watchful eye of Pastor Zeke.

However, I have been authorized to give you a "sneak preview" of what treasures are in store

The first picture depicts Veronica selling "merchandise" on the road to Calvary. The T-shirt is believed to be the origin of the Shroud of Turin.

This second shows a scene from the infancy of Christ.

And the third is an exceptionally rare depiction of Jesus meeting Hobbits on their way back to the Shire.

In the third picture Jesus is wearing his hair in a French braid. I didn't know he did this.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

      The theological implications are vast.
I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
      Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

$575,000 is a great price for an old book.

I hope the seller wasn't someone from Green family (owners of Hobby Lobby) who were caught recently with a bunch of counterfeit Biblical artefacts. When you think about it, owning an arts and crafts store and a museum full of unfinished bits and bobs is kind of a giveaway.

It is nice to see a portrait of Him where His hair is nicely pulled back. So many images show Him with locks flowing and flying about everywhere. It's not very manly.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

The Pastors are still puzzled by this illustration. It seems to be Satan (left) and Christ (right) having a dispute at a bowling alley, but as there seems to be no Biblical reference, the jury is still out.

                Were these Baptwit Monks?

It is this kind of mindless spending that gives Religion a bad name.

Will both lawn chairs be available? This now doubles your library inventory!

Please let us all know when religious "scholars" drop serious coin on anything written or illustrated by Baptwit writers.

                Bless you, my futzy fraud,

Thank you for your contribution. Perhaps you were thinking of The Papal States? As you may recall these were smitten by earthquake recently. Landover has not been smitten. However your post did remind me of a possible Biblical reference for the graphic:
                  James 1:8

I sincerely believe that everyone is a Baptist at heart, and this is what counts. If we remove the sin, shame and scandal from the Catholic, is he not a Baptist?

In the meantime, here is a depiction of Kylie of Auvergne who spent her life rescuing destructive pets and teaching them the ways of the Lord (Mark:16:15). How much more "Baptist" can a woman get?

That creature certainly looks like it needs to hear The Gospel. Why does she have a sword sticking out from her shoulder?
