Needless to say that Jesus has always known that one day a precious child of His would dedicate her life to Him and to helping the poorest of the poor and the sickest of the sick.

That day has come and now all of the other Saints can welcome Mother Teresa into the most exclusive and desirable club there is. She is likely sitting at the side of God as we speak, deep in conversation about how the path to Heaven is littered with charlatans ('Pastor' Al), grifters ('Pastor' Zeke) and perverts (Youth 'Pastor' Marty).

Her selfless dedication to life of helping others with no desire for personal or monetary enrichment is a shining example of the kind of humility the Catholic Church has been firmly behind be it Altar Boys, Nuns, Priests or lay persons.

While we all know that nobody raised in a so-called 'Baptist' Church has ever been made a Saint (many have been 'canonised' in a Howitzer sense while serving in uniform) this might be a good moment for cultists and other religious fringe dwellers to take stock in their existence and look at the example set by Mother Teresa. While Hell most likely awaits the entire lot of Baptists there is a chance that anyone, even Baptists, can earn the grace of Heaven if they live such a life beyond reproach... a life of total dedication to God.

Rome was bristling with energy last night and the Holy Spirit was everywhere as millions celebrated on of the finest lives ever lived. The Piazzas were brimming with God fearing and Jesus loving folks who, like so many Catholics before them, have been touched in a special way that forever changes the course of person's life. What was going on in the 7/11s of Iowa last night?

There is no better time that right now to seek the wisdom and pure guidance of Pope Francis as he leads the Lord's flock on that sure path to an eternity in the arms of His love. Mother Theresa has set an exquisite example and Pope Francis is leading the way like Jeff Gordon in a wheel-chair marathon. Throw off those corn-husk shackles and change your life, and your eternal life, forever.

I am not very familiar with the Catholic religion but I know they have saints. Most of them are from long ago but I have heard that some are more recent and are called latter day saints. Do they not live out in the desert near California?

The Vatican balance sheet must be looking a little lean these days, what with paying off all those lawsuits from the church being firmly in the behind of Altar Boys, Nuns, Priests and lay persons. They call it "Vatican City", but in reality it is its own country - and if it were any other country its clergy would be in jail.

Enter the Vatican PR team looking to boost sales and consignments of beads, wafers, indulgences, Mary worshiping cult statues, votive candles, and church plate donations. They dig up a corrupt dot-head "saint" from the land of filth, squalor, and insufferable outsourced computer help lines.

It may have been easy to dismiss the lunatic ravings of atheist Christopher Hitchens on the subject of "Mother" Teresa, but now even the Canadian French are having nothing to do with this latest outrage to ring in the rupees.

We Baptists have a simple message - all you need to do is read the Holy Gospel in the Bible (KJV1611), you don't need a messenger from the Vatican lifting your wallet and prodding your rectum - both literally and metaphorically. The Bible (KJV1611) is directly from Jesus.

Researchers dispell the myth of altruism and generosity surrounding Mother Teresa

The myth of altruism and generosity surrounding Mother Teresa is dispelled in a paper by Serge Larivée and Genevieve Chenard of University of Montreal's Department of Psychoeducation and Carole Sénéchal of the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Education. The paper will be published in the March issue of the journal Studies in Religion/Sciences religieuses and is an analysis of the published writings about Mother Teresa. Like the journalist and author Christopher Hitchens, who is amply quoted in their analysis, the researchers conclude that her hallowed image--which does not stand up to analysis of the facts--was constructed, and that her beatification was orchestrated by an effective media relations campaign.

"While looking for documentation on the phenomenon of altruism for a seminar on ethics, one of us stumbled upon the life and work of one of Catholic Church's most celebrated woman and now part of our collective imagination--Mother Teresa--whose real name was Agnes Gonxha," says Professor Larivée, who led the research. "The description was so ecstatic that it piqued our curiosity and pushed us to research further."

As a result, the three researchers collected 502 documents on the life and work of Mother Teresa. After eliminating 195 duplicates, they consulted 287 documents to conduct their analysis, representing 96% of the literature on the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity (OMC). In their article, Serge Larivée and his colleagues also cite a number of problems not take into account by the Vatican in Mother Teresa's beatification process, such as "her rather dubious way of caring for the sick, her questionable political contacts, her suspicious management of the enormous sums of money she received, and her overly dogmatic views regarding, in particular, abortion, contraception, and divorce."

The sick must suffer like Christ on the cross

At the time of her death, Mother Teresa had opened 517 missions welcoming the poor and sick in more than 100 countries. The missions have been described as "homes for the dying" by doctors visiting several of these establishments in Calcutta. Two-thirds of the people coming to these missions hoped to a find a doctor to treat them, while the other third lay dying without receiving appropriate care. The doctors observed a significant lack of hygiene, even unfit conditions, as well as a shortage of actual care, inadequate food, and no painkillers. The problem is not a lack of money--the Foundation created by Mother Teresa has raised hundreds of millions of dollars--but rather a particular conception of suffering and death: "There is something beautiful in seeing the poor accept their lot, to suffer it like Christ's Passion. The world gains much from their suffering," was her reply to criticism, cites the journalist Christopher Hitchens. Nevertheless, when Mother Teresa required palliative care, she received it in a modern American hospital.

Questionable politics and shadowy accounting

Mother Teresa was generous with her prayers but rather miserly with her foundation's millions when it came to humanity's suffering. During numerous floods in India or following the explosion of a pesticide plant in Bhopal, she offered numerous prayers and medallions of the Virgin Mary but no direct or monetary aid. On the other hand, she had no qualms about accepting the Legion of Honour and a grant from the Duvalier dictatorship in Haiti. Millions of dollars were transferred to the MCO's various bank accounts, but most of the accounts were kept secret, Larivée says. "Given the parsimonious management of Mother Theresa's works, one may ask where the millions of dollars for the poorest of the poor have gone?"

The grand media plan for holiness

Despite these disturbing facts, how did Mother Teresa succeed in building an image of holiness and infinite goodness? According to the three researchers, her meeting in London in 1968 with the BBC's Malcom Muggeridge, an anti-abortion journalist who shared her right-wing Catholic values, was crucial. Muggeridge decided to promote Teresa, who consequently discovered the power of mass media. In 1969, he made a eulogistic film of the missionary, promoting her by attributing to her the "first photographic miracle," when it should have been attributed to the new film stock being marketed by Kodak. Afterwards, Mother Teresa travelled throughout the world and received numerous awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize. In her acceptance speech, on the subject of Bosnian women who were raped by Serbs and now sought abortion, she said: "I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a direct war, a direct killing--direct murder by the mother herself."

Following her death, the Vatican decided to waive the usual five-year waiting period to open the beatification process. The miracle attributed to Mother Theresa was the healing of a woman, Monica Besra, who had been suffering from intense abdominal pain. The woman testified that she was cured after a medallion blessed by Mother Theresa was placed on her abdomen. Her doctors thought otherwise: the ovarian cyst and the tuberculosis from which she suffered were healed by the drugs they had given her. The Vatican, nevertheless, concluded that it was a miracle. Mother Teresa's popularity was such that she had become untouchable for the population, which had already declared her a saint. "What could be better than beatification followed by canonization of this model to revitalize the Church and inspire the faithful especially at a time when churches are empty and the Roman authority is in decline?" Larivée and his colleagues ask.

Positive effect of the Mother Teresa myth

Despite Mother Teresa's dubious way of caring for the sick by glorifying their suffering instead of relieving it, Serge Larivée and his colleagues point out the positive effect of the Mother Teresa myth: "If the extraordinary image of Mother Teresa conveyed in the collective imagination has encouraged humanitarian initiatives that are genuinely engaged with those crushed by poverty, we can only rejoice. It is likely that she has inspired many humanitarian workers whose actions have truly relieved the suffering of the destitute and addressed the causes of poverty and isolation without being extolled by the media. Nevertheless, the media coverage of Mother Theresa could have been a little more rigorous."

You didn't even spell the woman's name correctly. Kind of makes your entire post less credible - but then again, if it comes out of the mouth of a cathylick, its either baloney or the fluids of some young boy.

As a (Thankfully) ex-papist young man, I glorify my GOD that anyone can become His saint, merely by believing in His Son and confessing one's sins, being baptized, and then following every word of the Bible. No intermediary needed, no miracles needed, and when the LORD writes one's name down in the Lamb's Book of Life, He spells it correctly - every time. GLORY TO JESUS! Hallelujah!

You are raising important points against this repulsive post by Mr. Lester, whom we had hoped to save from his Papist heresies years ago. But, Satan is strong in him and we must multiply our efforts to gain Him the gift of Eternal Salvation... Which is what this "mother" Teresa never did.

1. She was not a literal mother, thus, she cannot be in Heaven.

1 Timothy 2:15
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Or course, it is possible that during her formative years of harlotry in Muslim-Catholic Albania, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu could have had lots of illegitimate offspring, which obviously would not Save her.

2. She rejected the significance of Jesus for Salvation

This is something she announced forcefully and publicly:

"I love all religions. ... If people become better Hindus, better Muslims, better Buddhists by our acts of love, then there is something else growing there."
"...there are many ways to God: All is God--Buddists, Hindus, Christians, etc., all have access to the same God."

Picture this: An unbeliever on his/her deathbed, ready to be told about Jesus on this pivotal moment, on this moment of weakness when a person is the most susceptible to Christian teaching, amidst all the fear, pain and anxiety! Is there a better moment in time to reach the corrupted soul of this individual and tell him/her that the pains of the disease gnawing the guts of the person are nothing but a lightweight overture to the pains inflicted by Jesus in Hell unless the person Repents?! "Mother" Teresa had thousands of chances to shove the Gospel down the throat of these people during their most desperate moments! Instead, she chose to make them "better Muslims"! Well, I have a message for you, Miss Bojaxhiu, an unbeliever cannot be made "better" as the only improvement possible requires True Christianity™.

3. "Mother" Teresa insulted Jesus in the most revolting manner imaginable by accusing Him of homosexuality!

Let us look at "mother" Teresa's utterings one more, even if it makes us cry in desperation to read these lines of unthinkable blasphemy!

"The dying, the crippled, the mentally ill, the unwanted, the unloved--they are Jesus in disguise . ... [through the] poor people I have an opportunity to be 24 hours a day with Jesus."

"Every AIDS victim is Jesus in a pitiful disguise; Jesus is in everyone.. ... [AIDS sufferers are] children of God [who] have been created for greater things"

In "mother" Teresa's twisted papist mind Jesus was mentally ill. In addition, Jesus was an AIDS patient. We know that homosexuality is the cause of AIDS. Hence, she claims that Jesus was a homosexual. This would make it impossible for Jesus to be our Lord in Heaven!

This is how "mother" Teresa sees Jesus!

It's higly debatable if women can even go to Heaven at all. Personally I believe like cats, dogs and goldfish, that women simply cease to exist if they die. There is not much happening in those heads so what could there even be to go to Heaven.

Heaven is perfect. I fail to see how God (man), Jesus (man) and the Holy Spirit (man) could make it any less perfect by allowing anything but decent male white Republican True Christians™ to enter Heaven. Just imagine those yapping women would actually be there to annoy Jesus with their pointless ramblings.

What a relevant question! This one was not easy to answer but after some data retrieval, all available information indicates that, surprisingly, she did, but she did it only to promote her own self-righteousness. Behold, Exhibit 1:


She did bakery in her own image to advertise her "ministry". Jesus tells us what happens to people who exalt themselves!

Now, I am not suggesting anything but one has to ask the question, what were the ingredients she could use in her bakery, as she resided in Godless India with absolute famine and no flour, nor yeast nor refined sugar available for her buns. Why? As simply as I can put it, his conversion and cure would be a miracle that would show to the world that Christian faith and science are not opposed, but (as St. John Paul II said) “Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth—in a word, to know himself—so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves.”

I say, go for it!

We'll watch. If Teresa is really a Saint, if she's really in Heaven, if the Catholic church is right and she can provide miracles, then this would be the Miracle to End All Miracles.

Okay Catholics, put your money where your mouths are!

Call me soft-hearted, but I think it's really cruel to pick on a man who has already been punished by God on this Earth and will no doubt be further punished in Hell. Has this sinner not suffered enough without being made a Catholic? It's not as if he can fight back.

You have to wonder what perverted plans they have for him.
