I do have a small question though. I've heard many times that the KJV bible is the 'correct' version, but how do you know things were translated correctly when put into the English language from its native Hebrew and Greek? From things I have read there are many things in the Hebrew and Greek languages originally that have multiple meanings.

Do you think that our all-knowing, all-powerful God could not ensure that His Word was translated correctly from one language to another?

How can you be a Christian and think the Bible is anything BUT what God wants us to read?

I suppose there is a point there. You can either choose to believe that the Bible is absolutely and completely correct or you don't.

But people generally want to know and understand things. And though the Bible says many great things within it, there are many things that simply can't be answered. That is what science is about. Trying to understand the world around us. But science does not dictate what we choose to believe in.

But understand that that is where a lot of my skepticism lies. Questions force you to seek answers and unfortunately there are just still questions that the Bible have not been able to provide for me.

I continue to learn and seek out knowledge and further understand the Bible as well as other religious texts and try to understand them better as well. Though I respect your choice of belief, I have difficulty in believing that only one of the thousands of religions out there, that only one is correct and all others are wrong. If that is true, then Heaven would end up being a rather lonely place as few people would ever make it there.

To Mary: Praying is not a bad thing, certainly.

Certainly NOT!

But a doctor certainly isn't a bad person because he or she wants to help other people.

A doctor is only so good as his commitment to Christ is.

Doctors do a great job in helping people survive. They are largely the reason why many of us live to an old age and help us when we need medical attention.

Who do you think inspires True Christian™ doctors with the information they need to heal?

Praying for someone's health is good, but it's never a guarantee that someone will live or get better because of a prayer. Many people die for apparently no reason at all. Some who have led good lives. Though I already know that someone will make the claim that they must not have be 'True Christians' or else God would have listened.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you slightly with the statement that a Doctor is only as good as his/her faith in Jesus. That may be important for a spiritual healer, but if you take a doctor who has learned how to perform surgeries is going to do better in surgery than one who does not have that knowledge and experience, regardless of belief in Christ or not.

Medical science is a different kind of healing than spiritual healing. It's a human intervention to try and save someone's life. I suppose the next question comes is this: Is it then wrong for a doctor who does not have a (strong) belief in God to try and save someone's life? Or would you rather that no doctor exist and only leaving life and death in God's hands?

I do wonder these things, because God gave us the capability to do all that we do and would it be that difficult for God to prevent that knowledge from coming to be? I realize that many argue about God's intervention of people's lives and that He does not want to take our free will from us. But God seems to intervene in many things as I often hear God being thanked and attributed to having done something for them or to them. So I don't see the intervention problem as a good method of dispute.

Again, I sincerely appreciate the words you all share. I may not agree with all of them, but I continue on my quest for further understanding.

Yes, precisely.

Every religion claims it is the only one which is correct, Jessev. There is not one that claims that the others are correct. (OK, there's one, Unitarian Universalism. But that has about 5 members. No MAJOR religion claims others are correct.)

The Bible tells us that the path to Heaven is narrow and the gate tight. Only a few will make it there. The rest will spend eternity being burned alive in God's Lake of Fire for their disbelief or disobedience.
