The sun doesnt so much know it's winter, but causes winter. However, when its closer to a fixed region, thats the regions winter. Its when its further the the earth recieves the most direct sunlight, since the earth has about a 23.5° rotation from a vertical axis of rotation, and its the direct sunlight that makes the surface hotter, causing summer

I am new to this forum but I have a question about this sun being close or far away. If the Sun is only 500 miles away how far away is the Moon? I thought the Moon was closer than the Sun but if the Sun is only 500 miles away then the Moon must be close too. I don't know too much about no science stuff so I'm not going to say anything about all those science laws,which are mostly hooey anyway I think. I am a GOD fearing Christian and all that science junk is just trying to be smarter than GOD. But if science does show that the Sun is closer than we thought we need to see how far away the Moon is cause if it's close too then all those sattellights and space stuff might crash into it and then we would have no sattellights and that could mess with television shows that use them (they use sattellights I'm pretty sure). I don't want to miss none of my NASCAR of Church shows. Shouldpray for the LORD to save the sattellights in case the Moon is closer than the Sun?

Well im glad it made them laugh, really, people should laugh more. But i was serious, i would appreciate it if i wasnt laughed at for my beliefs. You wouldnt like it if i laughed at you because you belief the sun is around 500 miles from the earth would you?

So run us through it again. The sun is further away but at a different angle because the earth is tilted. We'd all fall off. 23 degrees is quite a steep slope.

Friend, I'll humor you.
Place two points on a paper. There is no 'angle' between them, only a straight line. You would need three 'points' to create an angle. Even then, unless the points are moved, the distance, irrespective of the angle, remains constant.

We would fall off, drifting into space, if not for the dense core of iron at the center of the earth, that has enough gravitaional force it holds us to the surface. It helps us survive the tilt of the earths axis as well as the earths curve

Yes, that is very true, and the logic would apply to a two dimentional world. However, if you create a plane, or the paper, on the orbit of earth, creating the horizontal field, and project the earths axis as a line, you create a three dimensional field. That line was considered perfectly vertical until studies of the stars as they moved through the sky with our rotation and orbit that the axis is actually slanted, and since it hadnt been a modern change, it was most likely caused by an ancient astroid colliding with earth, most likely the same that could have killed off the dinosaurs in the great extinction.

Ive tried to expand my knowledge beyond the bible. Specific information like this isnt mentioned in the Holy Book, but a number of sources, including calculations, imaging, and among other things, can confirm it. Im not trying to debunk the Bible or anything, but id like to think there are certain mysteries that were left to us to uncover, so we can prove our ingenuity and determination
