Cosine is adjacent/hypotenuse. I already said, for argument's sake, we know the adjacent. But you don't know the value of the hypotenuse. The formula is useless.
Correct. we are solving for the hypotenuse. We have 2 of the three unknowns. We have the angle(which you can get by essentially holding a protractor up to the sky), and the adjacent, and are using it to solve for the hypotenuse. what do you think we are taking the cosine of? Cosine doesnt stand alone, it has to be applied to something
      CAH is
      Cosine of (angle)= adjacent/hypotenuse

      rearrange it to get
hypotenuse=adjacent/cosine of (angle). Do a little sample problem on a piece of paper, it works 100% of the time.

What the heck does the angel of a piece of paper have to do with the distance of the sun?

In 350 AD, Pope Julius I declared that christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25 for the sole fact to try to convert Pagan romans(who already celebrated Yule at this time for generations) to christianity instead.

I am glad that you agree, Jesus was in Heaven for a few hundred years before the damn Pagans tried to steal His Birthday. I am a bit perplexed as to why you think a damn Catlik had any thing to do with it. They are not even Christians!

how can they steal anything when they celebrated at the same time BEFORE he was born. if anything Pope Julius I tried to steal Their holiday, not the other way around. which in a way is moot point since the bible never gives an exact date to when he was born (since you have to be blind to it since it isn't in the bible, right?)

They knew he would be born because it was prophesied.

It was one the world's first pre-emptive strikes against Christianity.

Be wary of false Kumbaya Christians who use a highlighter and scissors to read the Bible. God wants us to read the lines, not between the lines. False Christians will go to Hell:
                  Matthew 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Asking a Christian to prove God exists is like asking him to prove his phone rings because yours doesn't. Make that call yourself! Dial 0800-get-on-your-knees-and-pray.

I think the pastor is following me on this one still. The angle on the paper would be the same angle the earth makes with the sun and venus. Its just easier to demonstrate to yourself when you write it down on paper.

You know you are wrong on all aspects don't you? On to the bigger questions why have you derailed this thread? Why do you hate Jesus? Are you a Homersexural or something?

magic of prophecy... oh wait... magic is witchcraft.. and witchcraft is bad.
Winter Solstice of Yule happens every year w/o fail. since the beginning of time (the time of the year the days are the shortest) so how is celebrating something that has been the same since the begging of time, hijacking of a birthday... that is unknown if it is an actual birthday?

You want me to fold a piece of paper, told it towards the sun then look at venus and write it down on the folded piece of paper? What the hell kind of drugs are you on?

I don't follow. What do you mean? It is well known that a Messiah was predicted to come. And Jesus Christ is that Messiah. There's nothing "magical" or illogical about it. Unless you wish to discuss Christianity from the point of view of an ignorant person.

No, what happens every year is that this period is the shortest time of the year. In that context, Jesus Christ came to us, exactly as was predicted. The pagans wished to thwart Jesus' coming by inventing their own festivities. In reality, they were fighting Christianity before it officially existed.

Just because they "were there first" does not mean that they own the holiday. That was reserved by our good Lord. So move over, Pagans!

in 46 BC the winter solstice was established in the Julian Calander as December 25, Since then, the difference between the calendar year (365.2500 days) and the tropical year (365.2422 days) moved the day associated with the actual astronomical solstice forward approximately three days every four centuries. The Winter Solstice still changes every 3000 years or so because of the inexact days of the calanders. but as of 2010 i believe it is Dec. 22.
