The sun is actually more orangeish, and it just appears yellow to us through the atmosphere.

Besides, how do you explain Venus and Mercury between us and the sun? Surely their gravity would cause some sort of calysmatic imbalance, being at most, about 200 miles away from us.

Where do you get the idea that Venus and Mercury aren't in the firmament with the sun and the moon? They were put up there to count seasons and months.

And because we are Christian, we can rightly claim that our science was inspired by God.

Even if scientists used real scientific methods (which is doubtful, I know) that still doesn't stop God from obscuring their perceptions (remember the Tower of Babel and how God responded to the arrogance of man with confusion of speech).

It is just as was said in Romans 1:22 - "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools."

Any who claim wisdom without holding a Bible in their hand is at the pinnacle of foolishness. How can they who have rejected the one infallible truth ever know any truth at all?

God reveals the truth to the righteous and shuns the wicked.

I have a question: has God shown us a way how to make the material that is strong enough to withstand the tremendous heat of the sun to hold it in the firmament? Then again, it might be better we know not how to, for the godless could try to steal it.

Based on the first posters math, If you were up in a plane, or on mount everest, say at 10 km (6.2 miles, or 31000 feet) and the temperature gradient held true, you would have a temperature increase of 60 degrees Kelvin. So the average earth temperature is 288k + 60k = 348k. Or 166 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mount Everest's temperature is anywhere from -100 F to -15 F, depending on the weather. NOT 166 F.

The Christian science is more complicated than that. You have two sources of heat. The sun above and Satan's realm below. Heat from Hell seeps out in places like hot springs and volcanoes. Also, the firmament reflects heat downward. Mt Everest is cold because the sun's heat gets reflected past it and it is too far away from heat seeping up from Hades.
