Because then can and would use them for balance and swimming. Just not to a degree losing it is a big deal.

Though this role has been reduced. Dog breeds are very recent in the overall scheme of things. They simply have not had the time or necessity to lose them.

Why does a dog need a tail to swim? is it a rudder?

Dogs have been around for as long as your uncle the monkey, a tad over 6,000 years. So why is it they still have tails? Why are there still monkeys if we came from them? Do monkeys read and speak? If we came from them they should be able to do those two things.

A bit, but also as propulsion. A dog that is not used to swimming that then starts may get a condition called water tail, where they essentially strain the muscles in the tail.

Well, how long there has been is a major point of contention. If you take the bible as the ultimate source, well then no major changes could take place. If you take the evidence from radiometric dating, there has been far, far longer.

Ignoring the time, monkeys still exist as not all of them were in conditions where evolution was necessary. If some remained in forests, while others lives closer to the edges, those living closer to the plains would get more advantage from losing tails, walking upright etc. Those remaining deep in the forests would be disadvantaged with the same changes, so would promptly die, losing the genes from that gene pool.

TL;DR. At some point, two groups formed in the same species. One formed monkeys, while the other became us, based on the selection pressures (what is most likely to kill them) on each group.

As for the whole speaking thing, it is because our species changed to emphasize our brains and communication, because for a lack of sharp teeth, claws etc, a group of humans communicating are make for an incredibly effective hunter. To a degree, they can talk, but over time, we have developed our ability to do so far better, while the branch of the original group that formed monkeys didn't.

TL;DR We gained the ability to talk after we split from the monkeys.

Even your one sentence summaries were too long for me to read. We are not here to discuss ridiculous fantasies you make up - we are here to discuss the TRUTH - THE BIBLE! The only source of accurate information in the universe.

Why wouldn't we take the Bible as a valid source of information friend? It has proven correct in its description of places like Jerusalem so why wouldn't it be right about the orgins of the world?

Describing a city the authors inhabited or at least visited is a large jump from divinely inspired mechanisms of creation, of which humans were not present until near the end. However, I am not going to argue the point, as I simply stated what the alternative viewpoint said when asked.

So you have your opinion and we TRUE Christians(tm) have ours?

In a way. It's not so much a viewpoint of what happened directly, but of the validity of different evidence available. You take the Bible's literal word, and would be hypocrites for trying to melt other bits of evidence around into it.

As both sides will happily point out, nobody can go back and see what happened, so all we can do it look at what we have now.

                    Friend,

God can go back as see what happened in the past. He is all powerful and all knowing. Now with God we can be 100% of what happened but with science we can only have an educated guess. I think is is quite clear that Christianity is more correct than science on the past friend.

That's just plain silly, a dogs tail will no more propel it through water what Dumbo the elephant flapping his ears making him fly.

What evidence other that your scientific mambo jumbo do you have? We have the word of God, how can you get better than that?

What it comes down to is quite simple a little over 6,000 years ago God created everything . If for some reason you are having a hard time understanding that , pick up a Bible start on page 1 and read.

Well, they use their tails in water. As I said, water tail is a pretty painful condition dogs unaccustomed to swimming can get.

Anyway, they still use their tails for balance when running to catch prey, which is something not many dogs have to do nowadays.

What evidence is there that could be produced other than scientific mumbo jumbo? You take the Bible above what science says, in a "if it doesn't agree, it's wrong" fashion. There is no way to convince otherwise. I'm just saying evidence does exist for an older universe, and it up to individuals to examine it and take what they may from it.

What would make you think I hate Jesus? From what I feel I can safely know, he was a man, born about 2000 years ago who preached a message of peace, compassion and love before his teachings got him the attention of the ruling Romans, who crucified him. Anything after that, I am unsure of.

In 50 posts you have yet to Glorify Jesus, you mock the Bible. The Bible is the word of God. You mock God and His only son, Jesus. Jesus died temporally for our sins. With out that act of love and compassion we would not have Salvation(TM). Jesus is my Lord and Savior, why do you hate Him? At this very moment He is weeping and its your FAULT. I am loosing patients with you, get right with Jesus.

Because if I were to glorify him now, it would be hollow. I really am not sure what I feel in my heart, so I have decided to come to a forum of about the most devout Christians I have ever met to see if it awakens anything in me. Sadly, faith is not something which can be forced.
