The moon should be flat as well. Notice how only one side of the moon always faces us? If it were round shouldn't it rotate just as scientist claim the Earth does?

Wait, I forgot... they claim that the moon is 'tidally locked' so it always has the same side facing earth. How convenient huh?

What else will scientist come up with in their pathetic attempts to persuade everyone that the Earth is round?

The moon is tidally locked and that is what causes the tides.

I think the reason that people in biblical times thought the world was flat was because that is all the people could understand in those times.

As the moon goes around the earth it attracts the water. This creats tidal zones and friction in the crust to cause geothermal energy to keep the planet habitable. This is just another aspect of the design inference. Do you think the moon is here by chance?

The chances of life happening through chance and are infinity to one and the moon being here by chance is just as unlikely.

The bible is gods word but his blue prints are in the world around us.

Intact I think I'll start a thread on the design hypothesis and maybe you might learn something.

The chances of life happening through chance and are infinity to one and the moon being here by chance is just as unlikely.

There's a difference between believing that God lied and believing that the Bible may have been slightly influenced by the people's beliefs at the time it was written. The Bible is a book. It may have been inspired by God, but it is a book nonetheless, and books can be edited.

So if you believe the Bible isn't 100% reliable how do you judge what is truth and what is not?

Where do you stand on the 6 day creation?

The virgin birth?
the resurrection?

Well I guess we'll never find out. But it's silly to think that the Bible is still written the exact same way that it was written when it was written for the first time.

I'm not necessarily saying that any of the teachings of the Bible have been changed, but the way things are worded have changed. If the Bible went out and specifically stated that the Earth was flat, I could see your point. However, the only places where the Bible "says" that the Earth is flat is through a few brief, off-topic mentionings of the Earth as a "circle." This could have easily been originally written as a "sphere", or a "three-dimensional circle", or a "ball", but was later changed for one reason or another. The Earth being flat was never the main topic of any part of the Bible.

The description of 'like a ball' was available to God. He could have used it if it was correct. He didn't so it must be a disc.

Maybe he did, but it was changed for some reason. Since there was only a brief mentioning of it, the people back then probably didn't realize the significance of it, and could have changed it to "circle."

Also, you do realize that God did not write the Bible? He inspired it, but Man still wrote the Bible, and Man can be influenced by the beliefs of people at the time. God set the blueprints for the Bible, and helped the people write it, but He did not write every single adjective in the Bible.

God created both the Earth and the moon AND put life on it. So how can the chance of life on earth and the moon overhead be infinity to one?

The problem is that if the Bible is so unreliable it's the only evidence we actually have for Jesus. So are you saying people made Him up?
