It seems to me that Idiocy said that while many of the theories were wrong, such as the Luminiferous Aether, Phlogiston Theory and Phrenology. While other have yet to be disproven, such as evolution and global warming. The two have only been supported by the evidence available.

Because we have more proof and don't believe in fairy tales. Does it mean, if you don’t understand something, and the community of physicists don’t understand it, that means God did it? Is that how you want to play this game? There are hundreds of religions. The odds of you picking the right one are microscopic. Why don't you admit YOU are wrong, since all religions don't agree? The beauty of science is that it requires skepticism, so when scientists get it wrong it's eventually found out. At one time, there were thought to be four elements: air, earth, fire, and water. Over time, scientists found that to be incorrect. Now we realize that there are dozens of elements. The tragedy of religion is that skeptics are shunned or killed, so intelligent discourse is often either not allowed or viewed with suspicion.

Science is based on theories and facts sometimes the theories are wrong but that's why they get tested and then the correct one can be proven based solid facts and evidence. Why is it that religion is supposed to be peaceful and excepting but extremists always attack things that don't agree with your opinion ? Because most extremists who fear what they don't understand and react with anger ? You need to open your extremely closed mind.

Christianity also gets it wrong, thought. Christians thought that the Earth was the centre of the universe, and the sun revolved around it. Now, everyone concedes that this is not true. Christians believed in creationism up until the point where evolution explained it all. Even the Vatican accepts evolution as a fact, yet there are still creationists trying to prove some weird point. The thing is that when science gets it wrong, it's usually because another scientist has proved a different theory. So far, religion has not affected, or disproved a single scientific discovery.....ever!!

You are, as usual, missing the point. All the theories I mentioned were considered scientific fact at some point in history. Most have been proven wrong by now. The few that have not been proven wrong yet, will be proven wrong in at most 5 years. The madness doesn't stop there though as incompetent scientist will simply make up new nonsensical theories to suck up our tax money.

My great grandfather (a renowned physicist, look him up) would never drive faster than 60 miles per hour because it was a known fact that any greater speed would cause a person to disintegrate. He used to say "More than a mile a minute cannot be done. A mans body could not handle the stress. He used to prove the point by swinging subjects by their feet at 60 rpm on a 100 foot rope on his 'Equilibrium Balancer" (I still have it somewhere out back). All, the test subjects vomited their internals after 30 minutes. If he had swung the people by their hands, they would not of been able to vomit. Proof science is chock full of flaws.

I don't know why he did it but that is what is happening. The Earth is traveling in a straight line but the gravitational influence of the Sun keeps it going in an ellipse, that is what an orbit is. Maybe the Earth and everything else was created moving in a straight line at varying speed only for the Sun to later be created pulling them into elliptical orbits. Either that or genesis is inaccurate. This could stem from a mistranslation in the bibles long history of being copied. It could be a inaccuracy made during genesis's long history as being a story passed down before the bible was written. I don't know but the Earth does orbit the Sun.

Things like Evolution and the Heliocentric model are supported by an ever growing mountain of evidence. The other theories perhaps had competing theories and the other one won against it. Evolution and Heliocentric model have virtually no competing theories.

To James Hutchins, i tried looking up your grandfather. I do not know his name so i thought he might share yours. If found a mass murderer named James Hutchins but no physicists. But for the sake of argument, I will believe you. That was not a well done experiment. If that was brought to the scientific community, it would be rejected immediatly.

To Redeemer Papist. What information about god. I said maybe he made it that way because that is the way that it is. The alternative being that he created it some different way and it is now this.

I didn't say that evolution and heliocentric model are "popular" (but they are), but that they were well supported by many pieces of evidence. the other theories were supported by one piece of evidence or another but were swiftly disproven by another. Evolution and heliocentric model are old and are here to stay.

I did say virtually. Every theory has at least one competing one but most (including this one) is supported by so little evidence (in this case none)and supported by such a small population that we don't often consider them. If we did, then we would have to consider every ridiculous explanation that people give.

Yes, Mr. James Hutchins was dear old dad. Probably the gentlest man you could ever meet. He lived by the Bible until the unjust persecution became to much for him and Jesus called him Home.
So you know all experiments and know what ones work and what ones do not. Interesting. Why not just save everyone the trouble and give the world the one experiment that will categorically prove everything.
