Maybe because it wasn't known in the region until around 500 AD? Although hemp (Cannabis ruderalis) and marijuana (Cannabis sativa) are both members of the same families, one gets you high and comes from south Asia, the other has minimal amounts of THC, but makes great rope and oil.

What has happened on this forum is exactly why people don't want to follow Jesus. As Christians, we are supposed to love, edify, encourage and help heal each other, not tear each other apart. If we tear people apart simply because they don't do everything right, we are no better than the people in the world and just like Jesus said about the adulteress who was caught in the act "whoever is blameless, let them throw the first stone" We are ALL imperfect. If ANY one of us could be perfect on our own, then Jesus died in vain. We are called to be separated from this world. If we only love the ones who love us, we are no different than non-believers. All the foul stuff I saw on this page, so-called Christians calling other people "Godmocking whores"- WOW. That's NOT God at all Makes me extremely sad. My spirit is grieved right now. And to say that you and Jesus will enjoy watching someone burn in hell for eternity, that's not Jesus at all. That's not the Jesus I know. The Jesus I know is very loving, He loves us SO much that He died for every single one of us. I'm not saying agree with the sin. Instead of judging someone for smoking pot, instead we should ask why they are smoking it. I used to smoke it and I did it to numb the pain. I hadn't given my pain to Jesus yet to let Him heal it. Yes, we are called to be separate. But where in scripture are you coming up with the idea that we should love everyone?

I am not sure which GOD you think you know, but the GOD of the Holy Bible does not love everyone equally:

As Brothers Bob4God and Jack O'fagan already rightly explained, the Jesus you think you know is the Jesus of liars and false prophets. It easy to say "Sure I believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, all I gotta do is be nice to everyone, don't I?"
It is something entirely different to really ACT in a way that our Lord would appreciate.

John 14:6 Iesus saith vnto him, I am the Way, the Trueth, and the Life: no man commeth vnto the Father but by mee.

It is only through Jesus that we may find salvation. All the heathens and believers of false prophecies out there will have to face that truth one day or another and I'd rather have them see it now so they may be saved as well and for that we must resort to drastic measures in this day and age for many people walk on this earth blinded by misinterpretations of His Holy Word.
Even I am still far from salvation because I only gave my life to Christ little over two years ago and at first I was like you because of all the lies I have been told by self-proclaimed Christians but after studying the Holy Book more carefully I realised that this was not the right path I was on. My search ultimately led me here to learn the values and teachings of True Christianity™ and even though I might still be Unsaved Trash because I still have a lot to learn and more importantly unlearn, each day is a step towards His Heavenly Glory and eternal life by His side instead of the fiery pits of Hell.

Brothers and sisters i have read this topic and am disgusted by the behaviors of some of the "True Christians" in this forum, for the Lord God has commanded me to enlighten you with what he has told me. God made cannabis for us to enjoy and to use, in the days of old people used cannabis for cloths, paper, rope, food, and yes to smoke. I begin in Genesis 1:29 "And God said, Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be your meat"
Exodus 30:1-10 it talks of burning incense in a tent before going in to the temple for atonement, they would sit in a mercy seat inside these tents to inhale the smoke.
Ezekiel 34:29 "And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen" cannabis can fulfill all of our uses such as cloth food and medicine.

Isaiah 18:4-5 "For so the Lord said unto me, I will rake my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest." "For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruninghooks, and take away and cut down the branches"

Romans 14:14-15 "I know and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean" "But if thy brother be grieved with they meat, now walkest thou not charitably. destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died."

I have seen that you against cannabis have not put truth to your arguments, you hold to the lies set upon us by Richard Nixon and Nancy Regan when they began the war on drugs. I have noticed a lot of hate in this forum from those with title of pastor, you are a messenger preaching a message of hate and twisting the words of the Lord God, you do not judge those to damnation for only the Lord can judge us and choose our fate. God loves all of his children whether they be atheist, gay, or even satanist we are God's children and he loves us all.
Open your eyes to truth for those who seek knowledge and truth seek the Lord. I have been smoking cannabis for over five years and i have no negative side effects or addiction, i haven't smoked in over two weeks without a problem, you may ban me from your forum but I care not. God told me to come here and spread truth to you for i see those of wisdom on this forum are lost as a blind man trying to find his way. I will not tell you that you are going to go to hell or call you a sinner, for we are all sinners, i will not reject you for your misguiding or leave you in the rain or cold for I will show you the love that is God's and I will reach out to you my hand and offer you guidance into the house of the Lord.

I would never harm the elderly, all groups are ok as long as they gather in the glory of the Lord, an cannabis doesn't pollute your body unlike tobacco and alcohol. You should do study and find the truth, and they sat in tents with the cannabis, or incense, burning in the middle, the smoke would stay in the tent and they would inhale thats how they smoked. Please do some study if your going to criticize something

And how did "THE LORD" speak to you?

Next you'll be saying that Biblical prophets were also taking huge amounts of drugs and that that explains Revelation. This is clearly not the case, or it wouldn't be in the Bible.

I'm not saying you should shoot up anything, thats bad, may be you should actually just smoke a joint and find out what i'm talking about about instead of putting words in my mouth and saying that i do things that i don't do. You see one thing that you fear and you turn that fear into hate, and hate is the worst of sins especially when you take it as far as i'v seen most of you do, i'v seen people post on here the most horrific things like thanking God that someone is dead or saying that a certain group of people deserve to go to hell because their different from you, this is not the way God wants you to act, God wants us to love each other like we love him.
