Your peoples theory on how the world was created is false. Science proves all your theories wrong. You claim the earth is only thousands of years old, yet records show the earth is over a billion years old. You say GOD "spawned" us here, science proves that humans evolved over time...and that spontaneous generation isn't possible. I do not see why you people believe in such a ridicules theory. Humans and Primates all came from a common ancestor, we are cousins.

Wrong. The earth is only six thousand years old because it says so in the Bible. I have a copy right here. Where are those records?Originally posted by snottyduck View PostThe universe is several billions of years old so we might assume earth was created at roughly the same time.

The Bible says nothing about the time of creation, it hasn't got a timeline nor does it have exact dates. The only thing you have is some guy that tried to backtrack it without any foundation to begin with. I'm not trying to undermine the scripture but I'm just pointing out that one has to be realistic in the sense that there is a thing called nature, sure God might have set things in working but certain rules of nature has to be followed to create something. God just didn't reach into his pocket and took out the earth, this planet had to be formed, just like any other planet in the galaxy. The galaxy is at least 13 billion years old as the light from the most remote star we discovered needs about 13 billion light years to reach us.

So do you, or do you not believe in the Bible, sugar? Either you are Saved or you ain't. You can't believe in Satan's theory of EVILution and in God's holy word at the same time. Re: Evolution
Look you heathens. It was in God's plan to put those fossils there. They only appear millions of years old according to human flawed science. They were put there as part of creation. Can the explanation be any simpler than that?sigpic
Exodus 22:18 says, "Suffer not a witch to live." Deuteronomy 18:10 says, "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch."

Re: Evolution
Dear Pastor, the nearest star (besides the sun of course is Proxima Centauri at 4.2 lightyears from us, that means that it takes 4.2 years for the light to reach our planet, you following me?? OK, now the farest star we encountered so far is about 13 billion lightyears from us, this would mean if the universe is only 6000 years old the light of that star wouldn't have reached us yet, and yet you can see it's light, so the logic is simple, it took the light of that star 13 billion years to reach us so the universe already existed at that time otherwise we wouldn't be aware of the star as the only thing we can see of the stars is the light they emite (and radiowaves too, but that's getting to complicated to explain here). So you can laugh all you want but the fact remains that light is a constant factor, it's speed doens't change.Originally posted by Pastor Ezekiel View Post
Whether I believe it or not is besides the point here, we are trying to determine how old this planet (and the universe) really is. Some people here claim it can be calculated by using the Bible but the problem is that the Bible doesn't really provide us with much info about dates. You can backtrack it vaguely by means of some things found in the bible and certain excavations of old cities and buildings but there too many gaps to give a complete image, also the fact that the Bible does have any correlation between the first humans and the time is has been written makes it useless to determine the age of the planet and universe. Why?? Because the Bible isn't written to determine the planet to begin with, it has another purpose then as a dating tool.Originally posted by Miss Maisie View PostSo do you, or do you not believe in the Bible, sugar? Yes I read that part of variable lightspeeds but none of this has been proven, not even remotely, it's just an assumption of some creationists to fit in their belief that the earth is only 6000 years old.
Using the Bible as timetable is prone to go wrong since the Bible is written by men, men who didn't even have the slightest clue on space physics, it wasn't even written for that, otherwise the Bible would look completely different, it would be more mathematical. The attempt to use it a a dating tool is nothing more than a struggle of the ego from some people who can't bear the idea that the planet is far older than humanity. Sure, they will always find things to counter new findings and I don't say modern science has all the answers yet but science and religion don't mix, we saw that way to often in history. Sometimes you must swallow your ego and look at the facts.
