By the way, did you know that Columbus died thinking he had gone to India? He never realized he had discovered an entire new continent! He based his theories on the maps of Cardinal D'Ailly and the Toscanelli world map. Yet, when he first reached land he didn't even bother recording his feelings about discovering land and being right in his journal! Yet he wrote about how happy he was for winning the 10,000 maravedis yearly prize for being the first to spot land (even though it wasn't really him). Quite the man, eh? I never did understand why they named America after Amerigo Vespucci - he would have found nothing if it wasn't for Columbus. America should have been named Columbica or something like that :/

10 Reasons Why Atheists are better than Christians

I think that all of you have some very gross misinformation and misunderstandings about atheism. Let me break down the benefits of being an atheist. Here are 10 Reasons (of many more) why to be an atheist is cooler:

1. When you are slapped

ATHEIST: You can kick back and make them spit a tooth.
CHRISTIAN: You have to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39).

2. When you have an enemy

ATHEIST: You can hate him, you can abuse him. You can mistreat him and use him.
CHRISTIAN: You have to love him. (Matthew 5:44)

3. If you see something cool unattended

ATHEIST: You can steal it, as long as you don't get caught. It's no big deal and nothing will happen to you except having something new that's cool!
CHRISTIAN: You can't steal (man doesn't that suck!)

4. If you happen to become a dictator

ATHEIST: You can kill as many of your and other countries' people so long as you are able to do it. If your plans go awry and you are being attacked by more powerful countries on all sides and losing the war, you can always commit suicide and rest in peace - there is no eternal punishment for you.
CHRISTIAN: You can't do anything, and most likely you will not be able to become a dictator seeing the malice, lies, and murder you'd probably have to commit.

5. What does science say?

ATHEIST: Science says that we are all a product of the leaves of the redwood tree. Everything contradicts those uneducated Christian theories, including the one about people actually being different from animals. As if, we all know that court and justice are a joke - all of our behavior is programmed in the genes and none of it is our fault.
CHRISTIAN: Christians don't believe in science!

6. What book/standard of morality do you follow?

ATHEIST: An atheist DOES NOT follow any fixed or static MAN-MADE notion of anything. We all know that things change and never stay the same. Back in the '50s it was cool for everyone to smoke. Now it's like totally incorrect! See what I mean. Same with homosexuality - back in the day it was totally wrong, now - well that evil 2008 California ban has been overturned! So what morality is there to follow except whatever makes you feel good and doesn't hurt others? Decency is only a construction of the mind.
CHRISTIAN: Sooo many rules, so little time left to enjoy being YOU! Am I right? As a Christian you have to defend the Bible (and the Pope if Catholic), and this means you have to spend hours researching various factoids that your atheistic opponent brought up in the flash of his imagination as a contradiction. Atheists do not have this problem - they have nothing to adhere to save the belief that there is no God absence of belief that there is a God.

7. Who will be in prison?

ATHEIST: We all know that most statistics show that CHRISTIANS are the majority of prisoners. When you fill in your religious status, regardless of your crime, that makes you exactly what you wrote. We all know there is no difference between what you write down as your religion and whether you actually practice it. For example, if I write down that I'm American, and I always eat Chinese food - I'm NOT Chinese!!!!
CHRISTIAN: The Bible says that you are a slave. Paul constantly says that he is in chains for Christ. It is no different today!

8. Who has better taste in Music/Clothes/Cooking/Movies, etc?

ATHEIST: Atheists have the best tastes in all modern categories. Two proofs: 1) Atheists invented modern technology; prior to this, religious fanaticism prevented technological advancement and tried to strangle science in its cradle. 2) Atheists are the masters of new trends and style: an atheist does not hold down to anything conservative and is up for anything, which is why they invent all the new stuff like leather jackets, Harley Davidson bikes, and Sports magazines.
CHRISTIAN: If you're a woman you MUST wear a skirt - it doesn't say so in the Bible, but everyone says so, even though this was just a European custom that was overturned by some in the 19th century. If you're a woman you MUST wear something to cover your shameful head in church, as 1 Corinthians 7 says (never mind that this applied only to one culture long ago, let's pretend it was meant for all time). Men have to have short hair, but of course this isn't a rule, but more like a general observation that was prevalent in the Greeks' days since at least Herodotus.

9. Who is most likely to go to Mars/advance space travel?

ATHEIST: Look at Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek. He was a humanist who believed that all religions brought about wars, such as the cult of Hitler, Stalin, and all the other dictators (Cambodian killing fields) - how many inventors of the light bulb died fighting like that? It's impossible, as Christians say, that people were simply culturally accepting of a belief in God due to a lack of a better explanation for life, but didn't have correct actions.
CHRISTIAN: Since the Earth is flat, the sky is blue because of a cover that prevents us from going into outer space (the moon landings and space travel are hoaxes), there is no way to space travel. One could, however, walk off the edge of the Earth and he will land on the back of a purple jelly fish. It is this purple jellyfish, combined with the Sun's rays that makes the sky blue (if you don't believe me, look up the fact that scientists DO NOT know why the Sun is yellow - I have my theory: Robitussin).

10. Atheists are better educated and more likely to graduate college

ATHEIST: Considering atheists do not believe in the clearly impossible theory of Creationism, they have the majority on their side, which as we all know, is always right. Also, new theories are made ONLY by atheists because scientists are only atheists since Christians do not believe in science - they believe in belief.
CHRISTIAN: Universities were banned and destroyed (Library of Alexandria) by Christians. It took 15,000 years before the first university (Al-Azhar, Cairo) could open up. Then another 500 for the Paris one, and so on. Yes, the Catholic Church sponsored them, but they also sponsored the Inquisition, so we can't give them credit for anything.

So you tell me who it is better to be?

If you are an ATHEIST, you will:

1. You can hit back and get revenge all the time
2. You can hate anyone you want
3. You can steal any cool-looking diamond you see
4. You can become a dictator and live like an emperor
5. You will have science on your side
6. You will have a morality that always agrees with the majority and thus never look like a jerk
7. You will never go to prison (you'll commit suicide and get away with it if you do a crime of course)
8. You will have better taste in clothes, food, music and everything else.
9. You will probably bring back photos from outer space proving to Christians that God is not in outer space and they are wrong.
10. You and your atheistic kids will graduate college and your Christian neighbor won't.

You're right, it's not their fault. In fact, they believe in Jesus and God as well, but they don't see it like we do. Think about it as God wearing a shawl. We don't know it is him, but he's protecting us and watching over us all the time. He's watching over them too.

I'm afraid God would disagree with you. The Bible makes it clear that you cannot believe unless you've heard the Gospel.

What better way to get people to seek after Him than to scatter them all over the earth in places where they will never hear the Gospel? It's all part of His master plan.

All people are accountable to God whether or not they have “heard about Him.” The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The problem is that the human race is sinful; we all reject this knowledge of God and rebel against Him (Romans 1:21-23). If it were not for God's grace, we would be given over to the sinful desires of our hearts, allowing us to discover how useless and miserable life is apart from Him. He does this for those who continually reject Him (Romans 1:24-32).

In reality, it is not that some people have not heard about God. Rather, the problem is that they have rejected what they have heard and what is readily seen in nature. Deuteronomy 4:29 proclaims, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” This verse teaches an important principle—everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known.

The problem is “there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God” (Romans 3:11). People reject the knowledge of God that is present in nature and in their own hearts, and instead decide to worship a “god” of their own creation. It is foolish to debate the fairness of God sending someone to hell who never had the opportunity to hear the gospel of Christ. People are responsible to God for what God has already revealed to them. The Bible says that people reject this knowledge, and therefore God is just in condemning them to hell.

Instead of debating the fate of those who have never heard, we, as Christians, should be doing our best to make sure they do hear. We are called to spread the gospel throughout the nations (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8). We know people reject the knowledge of God revealed in nature, and that must motivate us to proclaim the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. Only by accepting God’s grace through the Lord Jesus Christ can people be saved from their sins and rescued from an eternity apart from God.
