I know alot of goths I know alot of christians also, I was raised as a member of The Church Of England, and have met a variety of people who have all chosen their own way in life.

I chose to become my own person and believe whatever i chose to believe, I dont pray or go to church by choice. So dont see the issue with people being their own person.

Alot of what has been said in this thread could very well be linked the said Muslim extremists who believe that being a Muslim and worshipping Alah is the only true religion. So being a goth means you are devil worshipper or vampire or demon.

This world is all about choice and it's dumb americans that have never left their own state or little backwater town that attempt to force their own beleive system onto others.

I once had a discussion with some rather nice christian folks on the street, who where attempting to convert (the word they used) young people into Christianity, the young people in questions where, Goths/Punks/Metal Heads/Skaters etc

People who had chosen an alternative lifestyle. Many of these young people chose this alternative lifestyle because they where already outcasted from what is perceived to be a normal social group. Due to the music they like, their own personal self confidence etc

Lacking in sporting ability and usualy being more inteligent than the yobs/chavs/ and what americans would call gang bangers. They chose to group together and all enjoying harmony within their own group. Because they dont bully and fight with others, they enjoy hanging out, listening to music and generaly having a good time.

I have found that some of the nicest people I have ever met where Goths.

False Religions and Cults Catholics, Wiccans, Lutherans, Satanists, Mormons, and more!

As I see it, the young Christian man on his way to church with a few colleagues, was depressed at the godless state of the UK. Prior to leaving home, he had had a quiet drink to discuss the matter with his friends, he was then assaulted by a Goth trying typical violence to convert him to her heathen ways.

this all reminds me of dear Sophie lancaster who was murdered in the UK for simply dressing goth last August.

I honestly can not believe i sit here and see ppl judge one another. and spread rumors on falseness.

Did you know Sophie lancaster? do you know what type of person she was? did you take the time to sit with her and talk with her and see how her mind thinks? did you ever here her speak of things she believed in?.

Sophie Lancaster was the sweetest most kind hearted person.... they were judged by what they were wearing.. that is wrong no matter what way you look at it

i am deeply saddened that Sophie is gone.. it crushes my heart beyond any type of imagination. She was full of love for everyone and never judged anybody even though ppl walked about judging her

she was herself.. she loved being who she was and for that she deserves credit. Those teenagers in that court room admitted to killing her. I have the complete newspaper article if you ppl want to read it

there was black man a few streets down.. he murdered a white girl because her skirt was to short. who was in the wrong? the black man or the white girl?

there was a teenager in our local high school just 2 days ago, he gave a teacher a tainted muffin with poison in it.. and ya know what... it was a white every day type Joe kid.

did you ever notice that most goths just mind their own business and dont bother anyone... or havent you taken the time to talk to one of us =(

Well firstly this will be my first and only post.

I have read through every post on this topic and my heart sinks for most of you.

I am disgusted by the majority, but I know small minded people exist in this world, but it is truly saddening when someone thinks ridiculing someones murder is ok.

There has been alot of talk of the teenagers who murdered Sophie, I'll set the record straight here for you, there were witnesses, and this is what really happened.

Sopie and Rob were walking home, and were approached by this gang of youths, some of which were on probation for previous crimes.
Sophie and Rob did not provoke them in anyway, the witness heard the attackers and it is 100% true that they attacked the pair on the basis of their appearance.
This is an increasing problem at this time, what are called chavs here in the UK running riot attacking and harming people who are different, or cannot protect themselves as a form of entertainment.

These yobs knew what they were doing, it was premeditated, and they wanted to hurt Sophie and Rob to maximum effect, and they have admitted to what they did and have been heard boasting about it. They are by no means innocent, which is why they were found guilty.

They deserve the punishment they got, and unfortunately did not get long enough sentances.

I know some of you are very deluded on this subject, and will post back spreading rumours that are the opposite to the truth, but that doesnt matter, because you know in your own heart that you aren't being truthful, and the good decent human beings of the world know the truth, that Sophie and Rob are innocent, and these people are the only people that matter.

As for the whole goth hating trend on this forum, I feel sorry for you all.

I openly write here that I am most likely what you would call a 'goth', and I am proud to be the way I am.

I went to a C of E school as a child, and had a choice whether to be Christian or not, I decided I dont believe in God, I dont despise anyone who does, and I dont interfere. But in this instance, the story needed setting straight.
You can reply saying I'm going to hell as much as you like, it doesn't really bother me, as I dont beleive in hell, I'm not afraid.

I've been the way I am for many years now, I dont eat babies, I dont chant to or worship satan, I dont belive in satan. I dont cut myself or harm myself just because i wear alot of black and am very peaceful by nature.
I dont like to fight, I dont judge people until they give me reason to.
If you're christian, jewish, buddhist, a chav, black, white or purple, i dont care, I will respect you until you give me reason not to.
I am open minded and give every one an equal chance.

I'm happy, I love my life, I love my mother, I love my grandpa, I love my boyfriend, I love my friends, I have a future, I treat people how I would like to be treated, and therefore I dont fit into your stereotypical ideas of how a 'goth' should be. I most certainly don't throw myself at people trying to get them to kill me like you seem to think all 'goths' do, happen to like my life and don't want to die until i'm old and my time is due because of old age.

I am human, just like Sophie was!

I personally know friends of Sophie, and I can assure anyone who trys to tarnish her name, you will not succeed, because a good persons name cannot be tarnished.

She was kind and gentle, and did not judge others, her and Rob kept to themselves and are peaceful. She had love and friendship, she had a life and a family and she had a wonderful and bright future ahead of her, and as her memorial bench says, ' she is an angel too soon'

Yes, an angel, she was a good person, and she is an angel.

There is so much love for her in this world from so many people, and you people who are too narrow minded to let her rest in peace can never take that away.

No matter how many names you call her, and how many silly untrue accusations you throw around, you cannot touch her, and that will never change what really happened.

No matter how many times you reply to this, you will not change the truth and its very sad that you are all so desperate to hide behind your keyboards throwing abuse around.

I would gladly stand up in front of all of you, and say I am proud to be what you label a 'goth', and I am proud to be open minded and tolerant person, unlike most of you on here.

I tolerate your ignorance, and so do many, and do you know why I do?
Because I and so many others know that you dont matter, you wont change the minds of all the decent people out there, you are a fanatical, small minded minority.

Becasue she was a wonderful young women, and the truth always outshines the lies, and you can never ever tranish her name and she will live on in all our memories as a wonderful human being who was taken too soon.

People will contune to climb the tallest mountains in the world to leave flowers and her name there in rememberance, yes its being done, people will keep leaving flowers at her bench, me included, and people will still love her.

One of the guys on the Gothwatch team passed this along to me. As everyone probably knows, the Free the Lancaster Five thread was all messed up by the guy who started it, revrggreen, who turned out to be a goth himself. Pastor Billy-Reuben closed that thread because it was simply too difficult to ferret out the lies, half-truths, etc. that revrggreen planted.

It turns out that the goths think that they've scored some big victory over us. See here. Well, folks, Landover Baptist Church does not bow to outside pressure, especially when it's from a bunch of people who dress like Satanists. I'd like to assure everyone that we are still 100% behind the Lancaster Five, and that it remains our view that, when Goths like Sophie Lancaster are allowed to run loose, it's s sure sign that the Devil is at work. Sure, she's in Hell now, but we still need to protect our children from the malignant influences that Goths like Sophie Lancaster and her God-rejecting friends.
