Unfortunately one can not pick and chose what they like from the Bible and call ones self a True Christian.

To make people happy, to spread joy, that is one of the most wonderful things you can do in this life. By spreading joy you are helping people enjoy life, embrace it, perhaps even helping to put them on the right path.

I would rather be known for spreading happiness than to be known for spreading hatred.

I will not tell people they are going to hell, I will not stop them from doing the things they want, I was not put here to hinder people, I was put here to help them.

when we look at the bible we must take away the messages and important values it teaches while still retaining our common sense.

That's like saying that you're a law-abiding citizen in spite of raping your mother because the rape laws don't make sense to you and, hey, you did follow the laws against murder and sodomy.

The unfortunate truth of the matter is that the bible is old, it was written a long, long time ago.

The human race is about 4000 years older than the Bible. Does that mean humans are invalid?

Now by no means is that to say that it is wrong or that we cannot learn from it but you must understand that not everything said in the bible can be applied literally in the world today.

On the contrary, the Bible describes humanity's entire span of existence, starting from creation until the point where Jesus returns. And beyond. That's the point, God can anticipate these things.

Use your mind, use your free will, God gave you both of them for a reason.

Besides, think about it. Maybe the rapist will be completely changed once he sees that he's the father of a beautiful baby. With the help of the Lord, he can become an excellent father and husband. With the passing of years, the original rape will turn out to be a big joke that they poke fun at. Like "hey dad, do you remember how you were too shy to ask mom out on a date? LOL!"
