Friends,

I recently received a letter from a concerned parent. In the letter she told me that her daughter had been raped, but was refusing to marry her rapist as per Deuteronomy 22:28-29. The stupid girl actually wants to press charges on the man!

Not only that, but that she also plans to kill the poor unborn baby her rapist had given her! Sickening! Have young people today got NO morals?

Any and all advice on what I can say to convince this girl to do the right thing would be great. Should I start with the basics ?

"Whore, you'll burn in Hell for all eternity - unless you marry your rapist"??

Or should I go for a more subtle approach??

If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Of course she wants to press charges against him, he RAPED her against her will! You want her to marry him, seriously?

I was raped in my home in my bed while I slept and my children were in the next room does this make me a whore too because someone entered my home and violated me while I was defenseless?

I do have better things to do but in all reality if you would like that information you can contact Central Ohio Choices ask them about Domestic Violence and Rape cases in 2003. Thank you for making me realize that I am a stronger person than most and that God truly is on My side and not that of my rapist

again I do not believe that you are true Christians I believe that you are evil and backed by the devil himself. I will be praying for you and hope that God touches your hearts and your souls.

We're "evil and backed by the devil himself" because we follow the entire Bible and don't cherry-pick it? Um, okay. Also, I'm still waiting to see how you explain the following clear command from God as recorded in His Word:

Although this was almost four years ago now, I find the whole "blame the victim" approach to be disgusting.

IF the girl was raped, then we can all agree it was the mans fault, not hers.

If this is the case, then he's probably put her through the most disturbing and awful experience of her life, and is likely a cruel man, and not only would I never want to marry him, I'd never want to see him again.

You need to stop imposing your views on sons and daughters, it is their life, their choice, you make things more difficult for them by forcing them into x, y and z when you've got no experience of a, b and c.

Care to back up any of that with Scripture?

I would like to see some proof now, if you don't mind. Somehow you expect us to believe that a random stranger breaks into your house, you don't wake up from the noise, it's evening, but your husband isn't home, your children don't wake up, your neighbors don't notice anything, and your case doesn't make the headlines of the newspapers? Can you post a picture of your criminal complaint, without the specifics of course? Some shred of evidence to show us you're telling the truth?

Well, if you were not a single mom, you wouldn't have gotten raped would you? Your husband would have woken up, you see how it's your own fault that you got raped? It's dangerous to go against God.

Did you also know that between 5-25% of the rape cases has been made up?
Don't you think it's clear women are sluts who try to get men to ravish them, but don't like to be called harlots, and that's why they make it up?

Or they make those stories up to try to shock Christians on a private forum, for whichever purpose. That's possible too.

My point was exactly that.... read all of the scripture before you decide that you are on the level with God to make his judgments for him. No man, Woman or child can condemn anyone to hell for something that happened to them. Having been a rape victim myself I find this disgusting. I was raped in my home in my bed while I slept and my children were in the next room does this make me a whore too because someone entered my home and violated me while I was defenseless? I did nothing to encourage this advance how is this my fault? I do not agree with Abortion but I also to not believe in condemning a person for events that happened to them at the hand of another person.
