Any and all advice on what I can say to convince this girl to do the right thing would be great. Should I start with the basics ?

"Whore, you'll burn in Hell for all eternity - unless you marry your rapist"??

Or should I go for a more subtle approach??
Where did you get the idea that rape is OK. Why should she marry someone who assaulted her? You sound like a rapist to me.

      1) No one here says rape is okay. It is a terrible crime.
      2) The Bible says she should...
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Why is it cruel? A girl cannot go slutting about without consequences. She did not hate him before the rape, you know she like the rape, all women want to be needed. Why else would they were clothes like they do, makeup, perfume and so on? Without that stuff, men would ignore them except to have Soldiers for God, which is exactly what rape is. You have to respect a woman who does not play the games of the masses and allows the natural act of being around just to make babies. It is impossible for any woman to hate any man who gives her any attention whatsoever. She should not however, make herself available if her father cannot pay the 50 shekels. That is just wrong otherwise.
Who said she was "slutting about"? Are you stating that women enjoy rape?
              How do you figure?
Please do not be stereotypical of all girls; God teaches that all human beings are unique and cannot be expected to be the same.

I find it highly amusing that everyone blatantly disregards the fact that the Bible was written by man, and was created to be taken metaphorically. The Bible did not fall out of the sky with angels singing all around it. It was created. So, why do you act like it was God's will for it? There's plenty of proof that the Bible is metaphorical. I don't give a damn how powerful you are, you CAN'T be resurrected. You're not a damned paladin in World of Warcraft. Has anybody else ever been resurrected? No. Has anybody else ever walked on water? No. Has anybody else ever turned water into wine? No.

Oh, and before you pull the "He's the Son of God" bull on me, remember this:

Jesus' divinity was decided on a vote by the Jewish Council at the time.

                  I just blew your minds.

Course, you'll deny it, and call me a "witch". This is the 21st century. We don't even have witches anymore. Quit living in the past.

Oh, very well. I concede you that victory. Now lets prove all the other blatant contradictions!

                      The Dictionary defines rape as:

                      Main Entry: rape
                      Function: noun
                      : Main Entry: rape
                      Function: noun
: unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception.

                      And the Bible says:

"It is our duty in every case to obey the laws of our land, unless they conflict with the higher law which God spoke with an audible voice from Sinai, and afterward engraved on stone with His own finger. 'I will put My laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to Me a people.' He who has God's law written in the heart will obey God rather than men, and will sooner disobey all men than deviate in the least from the commandment of God."—Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, p. 361.

Laws of our land according to the encyclopedia means:

the established law of a nation or region.

And therefore that would mean that God is a one wishy-washy all-knowing being. But, again the Bible was written in a time when women were constantly prosecuted. Its hard for anybody to say that woman are okay in ancient times. Hell, we just recently got women voting rights.

The Bible does NOT say that, some homer from the Gilead Institute said that.

I'm new here, but I find this to be a moot point. What kind of daughter would consider refusing her fathers wishes? If the kind, young gentleman in question honors the father by paying his fifty shekels, then the young woman has been given her husband. I really don't want to offend anyone here, but this seems like a silly subject to debate. Anyway, thanks for listening.
