Then why not just plan the wedding? While rape may be OK under this condition in God's eyes, the laws of the land are not made by God, so you may still end up in jail. If the father has agreed for her to be your wife, then none of this extra trouble is necessary.

This is the dark side of the internet everyone warns me about. This is what my friends continually warn me about.

Seriously? The guy disregards the girl's personal, and SEXUAL privacy, yet he's the victim? I know, it's what "God" said. We'll ignore the fact that the Bible was written by man, rewritten dozens of times, and translated over numorous languages (which in itself poses a problem when it comes to the message). What kind of "morality" dictates that rape victims are to marry the rapist? What are we to do in times where we have a serial rapist? What if we can't find the rapist (considering it's AGAINST THE LAW to rape, he's gonna want to stay hidden)?

you know what this reminds me of? The religious nut individual from "The Mist". You know the one who wanted to sacrifice the protagonists child since that would "keep the beast from eating everyone"? Further explaining Hell (which is something the nuns at my church did a fine job of doing when I was 5...by the way) isn't going to make it any more, or less, scary. I know of what Hell is in many definitions, and of them all......I STILL think it's a more hospitible place that amongst a God that supports rape. At least in Hell it's accepted that rape is a horrible thing to do to someone.

Rape is a crime, a woman is not responsible or held accountable if she is raped, as the very definition of rape is non-consentual sexual intercourse.

But no one is saying SHE is held accountable. The man in question is held accountable. That is why he has to pay 50 shekels and marry the woman.

The woman would be a victim if the rapist did not marry her. No man would have her, for she is defiled. She would grow old and alone without children, an outcast for the rest of her life.

Wait a minute...so rape is a good thing in hell as well? Well if such awesome is going on in Hell, why is it an area we are to avoid?

DOUBLE POST: Ok, I'm done. Believe it or not, I have church in the morning. I really do. It's a church where there will be very little rape. We do things like teach kids to respect each other's sexual privacy and treat everyone as equals. Yeah... Who set up a speed camera in Hell? And why on EARTH (or heaven or hell) would Satan punish you in such meaningless physical actions? Wouldn't a spiritual assault be a far more hideous punishment? Thus we can probably guess that if Satan is the real deal (which we know he is) he wouldn't bother with such useless and crude torture. Thus we take this as a metaphorical burning. A scorching of the soul, not the physical body. "...gnashing your teeth" Hold on, where did our souls get teeth?

Perhaps a more metaphorical approach to the concept of the suffering in hell would be more appropriate then this conviction that Satan wishes to punish our physical, earthly forms; this would suggest that Satan can't effect our souls. Which I think we can all say he can.

Lets relate this to the topic at hand. We have our Christian girl, say 20, dressed modestly, walking down a street in broad daylight and then she stops as she enjoys the beauty of God's creation. Then our, say ex military, rapist, following her, realises noone else is around and smashes her over the back of the head with a tire iron. He drags her into an unseen alleyway, rapes her, sodomises her, humiliates etc etc. Then she dies, say, a few hours later from internal hemorrhaging caused by her rapist. So she falls into hell at 250 mph because she didn't marry him and Satan decides to do that to her all over again and again for all of eternity etc etc.

So, you might say, bad luck to her. But she never had choice now, did she? Sure, she could have not stopped, but then she wouldn't have enjoyed God's creation which I believe is an important thing to do whenever you realise its glory. So, you could say, she made a mistake. If you said that enjoying God's creation is a mistake then you'd be an unbeliever. So, you say, she should have stopped him. Stopping a large fit man with a tire iron is hard enough if you know he's coming. So, you continue to say, it was bad luck on her part. Bad luck?? Bad luck God didn't gift her with eyes in the back of her head? Being punished by God is not about luck. She had no choice. If she was faithful (and we assume she was) then she should be granted Heaven because she never made the wrong decision.
