Now, even though I never served in the military and got out of the Vietnam draft because my father convinced the draft board that my arm was destroyed after playing quarterback in high school football, I do have a great respect for our armed forces, particularily the Marines.

You need to go back and read this thread from the first post. If you don't like what God says about rape, then take it up with Him.

I believe the main issue here is that I did. As you can probably read, I didn't "yappity yap yap' but instead came up with a differing view and a new way of looking at this issue. Which is what forums are about.

If you have problems with discussing your faith I am more then willing to accept this.

Thanks for the reminder Osbourne, I completely agree. All of our brave Marines ARE Christian. I am Christian also. Thank you for making that clear but, it appears you demand that my faith copy yours. Our Marines don't all believe in the same manner as you or even I - they take the Bible in varying differing ways. You can say that this is unacceptable, saddening, that it should be changed; but it is true.

Not at all - the Word of God is however open to interpretation. You may say that we must take it literally and I in no way condemn this nor demand you change your faith. The view of God is incomprehensible to us - the Bible guides us but it is but words; and words, as we well know, are open to interpretation. Any chapter in the Bible could be taken metaphorically or literally and neither interpretation is wrong. To say it is wrong would be to say the word of God is wrong. However I do respect your viewpoint that the Bible is a literal guide to life and that my own view may seem arrogant to you. This difference in interpretation is something I would prefer to discuss rationally and enjoyably instead of being some petty 'flame war'.

You're spinning. The Holy Bible is pretty much all Prophecy. The verse is clear; No one can interpret the Scriptures, period.

I would have to agree that the Old Testament can be seen as one big prophecy, but it is scriptures and the verse says, clearly yes, that the prophecy cannot be interpreted. The prophecy is not the scripture itself but the Word of God given to Man; Man then takes this and puts it down into the scriptures. Thus the prophecy is directly from God and no interpretation can become of that, but the scripture is from the hand of man and thus, as the verse alludes towards, can be interpreted where the prophecy cannot.

And as much as I would like to discuss my church and my faith, I have received, due to my what I thought to be rational comments on issues, a quite rude introduction. Being declared a 'scum sucking unbeliever' is not the most welcoming of greetings.

But there aren't differing Gods, there is only 1 God and 1 Bible and thus only 1 correct way. To tolerate other ways would be to accept idolatry and that is an offense to God. Tolerance of blasphemy is a sin as well. If God doesn't forbid it, then it must surely be OK, right?

But please ask them why, according to their beliefs, it is fine to have sex with your dog. After all, this is only mentioned in the Old Testament on pages that they would love to tear out of the indivisible Bible. We might be of different views here, but do you honestly believe it is acceptable to have sex with your dog? Or with other men? Or make your parents and siblings naked? Leviticus, Leviticus...

As I understand, Marine training is a little "rude" as well. Yet you learn skills that will save people's lives. Pastor Ezekiel is kind of God's Sergeant, I suppose. Do you tell your instructor "but sir, I don't want to do 20 push-ups, it is too hard"? Same with Pastor Ezekiel.

Friends,

I recently received a letter from a concerned parent. In the letter she told me that her daughter had been raped, but was refusing to marry her rapist as per Deuteronomy 22:28-29. The stupid girl actually wants to press charges on the man!

Not only that, but that she also plans to kill the poor unborn baby her rapist had given her! Sickening! Have young people today got NO morals?

Any and all advice on what I can say to convince this girl to do the right thing would be great. Should I start with the basics ?

"Whore, you'll burn in Hell for all eternity - unless you marry your rapist"??

Or should I go for a more subtle approach??

RAPE is a crime not only against the woman but against GOD, It's a violation of the greatest gift God ever gave man, Free Will, Rape is a destruction of Free Will and a domination of another person.

As for the Baby if she doesn't want to keep it then she has the RIGHT not to. And forcing a woman to go through a pregnancy stemming from such a violation is as bad as the violation.

As far as I am concerned this entire topic is nothing more than a continuation of the Violation that the poor girl went though. Even if posted in jest This entire thing is just wrong.

I registered with this site to post this ONE message and that will be all I post unless driven to respond to something else.

Leviticus states that God will forgive the rape if they marry. Also, a sum of 50 shekels needs to be paid. That's God's own words, not mine.

But think about it. The woman has endured maybe 10-30 minutes of discomfort as a result of her slutty ways. Then God says that the man who caused her the grief should take responsibility and give her a lifetime of love. So that is 50-80 years of love. Not a bad ratio, now is it?
