These good people have everything to be proud of. God has blessed them abundantly, in ways that you and I can't even imagine. They obey scripture down to the letter and Jesus notices. Revelation 3:21 says

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Surely, the Landoverians are those whom he speaks of. I don't know of anyone more overcoming than them.

        I've done the honors.

Mind you, I smell a trick question. God clearly tells us that pride is a bad bad thing.

        Psalm 36:11
Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

Of course, that kind of pride is NOT what we feel: we rejoice our strong bond with JESUS! Every second of our Saved life.

        Amen.
        Psalm 81:10:
I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Re: Here is a good question

I just looked up Biblical pride and found this page.

Question: "What does the Bible say about pride?"

Answer: There is a difference between the kind of pride that God hates (Proverbs 8:13) and the kind of pride we feel about a job well done. The kind of pride that stems from self-righteousness is sin and God hates it because it is a hindrance to seeking Him. Psalm 10:4 explains that the proud are so consumed with themselves that their thoughts are far from God: “In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.” This kind of haughty pride is the opposite of the spirit of humility that God seeks: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3). The “poor in spirit” are those who recognize their utter spiritual bankruptcy and their inability to come to God aside from His divine grace. The proud, on the other hand, are so blinded by their pride that think they have no need of God or worse, that God should accept them as they are because they deserve His acceptance.

Throughout Scripture we are told about the consequences of pride. Proverbs 16:18-19 tells us that, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.” Satan was cast out of heaven because of pride (Isaiah 14:12-15). He had the selfish audacity to attempt to replace God Himself as the rightful ruler of the universe. But Satan will be cast down to hell in the final judgment of God. For those who rise up in defiance against God, there is nothing ahead for them but disaster, because “’I will rise up against them’ is the promise of the Lord. He will cut them off” (Isaiah 14:22).

Pride has kept many people from accepting Jesus Christ as personal Savior. Refusing to admit sin and acknowledging that in our own strength we cannot do anything to inherit eternal life has been a stumbling block for prideful people. We are not to boast about ourselves, but if we want to boast, then we are to proclaim the glories of God. What we say about ourselves means nothing in God’s work. It’s what God says about us that makes the difference (2 Corinthians 10:13).

Why is pride so sinful? Pride is giving ourselves the credit for something that God has accomplished. Pride is taking the glory that belongs to God alone and giving it to ourselves. Pride is essentially self-worship. Anything we accomplish in this world would not have been possible were it not for God enabling and sustaining us. That is why we give God the glory—for He alone deserves it.

This makes interesting reading, and pride in oneself IS a bad thing. But how does the Bible view pride in others? Proud of the accomplishments the Lord has guided them towards? Proud that they have let the Lord guide them to where they are today? Or is pride the wrong word to describe it?

Let me tell you a story to illustrate this -

Around a year ago several dogs had started fouling my fiancee's backyard. My fiancee' has a terrible fear of dogs, so this caused her great distress. Both myself and her father tried in vain for several weeks to find a way to keep these wretched animals out. But in the end all our problems were solved, surprisingly, by her 11 year old brother.

He and he alone came up with the idea of poisoning dog biscuits, and leaving them around her property. The next morning she had 21 dead dogs littering the backyard, and she could rest easily. I was proud of her little brother that day, proud of the man God was turning him into. It was a very thoughful and loving thing to do.

I always thought pride in yourself was a sin, but pride in what God inspired others to do was ok. How does the Bible view this kind of pride? Is pride the wrong word I should use?

I feel that each TC is filled with humility and merely glad to be fortunate enough to be in a position of being able to serve The Lord.

At the same time TCs are eternally grateful for God's Love and the comradeship of their companions beside whom they themselves are nought but the most insignificant mote.

Asking if we are proud of the way we are and the way we live is kinda silly. Of course we are proud of the fact that we are obedient to our Father in Heaven. Who would not be proud of having gained salvation through Jesus?
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Indeed Mr. Johnson. I considered adding that option to the poll, but given that it is so blatantly obvious she shouldn't be proud, I thought the better of it. Titus would agree with me.

We are proud of what Jesus has done using us, His Beloved Elect(r). This is differential from the false pride of the unbeliever at their own feeble acts. Like an atheist artist taking pride in a painting of theirs.

The Landover Veterinary Society does not recommend leaving poisoned food out to take care of nuisance animals. A child could eat it, or your neighbor's cat, so this method is considered unsafe.

In the future, if there is a problem with wandering dogs in your yard please call LVS. We will be happy to deliver a cage/trap and will come back to pick up the offending animals. They will either be euthanized on site or dissected by our veterinary residents. These animals' carcasses can be put to good use training our county's future veterinarians.

Good point. For example, all the True Christians™ here give credit to Jesus for blessing them with the church campus and the modest residential areas that surround it while an atheist will take credit for the all the work he does without giving an ounce of credit to God even though he knows that there is a God and the He did all the work. It's blasphemy! A True Christian(tm) can be proud of the work he does because it is implied that all the credit goes to God. An atheist (i.e. non-Baptist) can never be proud of anything because he wants to keep all the credit for himself.

I had to select all FOUR options, even though "pride" is the wrong word. Unfortunately, the opposite of pride is shame, of which I have none.

After all, I act in accordance with God's Word. That's really not something to take pride in, but rather the act of His humble and obedient servant.

Tacky, would you like to be God's servant, too?
