Re: Landover and the Old Testament

Or what about Pastor Zeke with a beard? You can't see his striking, boyish good looks! This just goes to show Jesus had great foresight when he knocked out some of them old laws.

        Properly rounded I assume.

My skin is already itchy. I can feel my beard growing even as I type.

In the Beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. Genesis 1.1. This scripture is the first verse of the Bible for a reason. It lays the foundation for the absolute truth found in God's Holy WORD, the Bible.

Le:19:27: Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

My beard is completely unmarred. (And for that matter I've never tried to round the corners of my head)

You truly are a man of God, Brother Bathfire! Just looking at your eyes, I can see you are truly on fire for Jesus. No man has that look unless he's been galvanized by the Word of God(c) and the Holy Spirit has visited upon him. Praise Jesus!

Re: Landover and the Old Testament

Ah, the good old, "rounding the corners of the head, and maring the corners of the beard" argument.

Lets look into the spirit, and reasoning behind this law. Then we can see why this law does not apply to non-Hebrew Christians (True Christians (tm) ).

Leviticus 19:27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

Remember... way back when... the Children of Israel had just left Egypt. They had been there for many generations, enough time to go from a couple dozen, Israel and his kids, to a million or so. During that time, they had grown accustomed to the Egyptian ways, most had accepted the Egyptian Gods as their own. They had neglected the LORD God. In the acceptance of the Egyptian lifestyle, they also dressed and worshiped like the Egyptians, they weren't all slaves building cities, some were teachers, accountants, nursemaids, they held all jobs in Egypt at the time.

If they were just slaves who worked in the fields, then why would the Egyptians give up their jewelry to them when they left?

Exodus 12:35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:

So some of the Hebrews were of high stature. Being of a higher class, in order to assimilate better, they probably cut their hair, and shaved their beards to better fit in with the Egyptians.

Think of those Egyptian statues, they don't have full beards, they have goatees.

Also, they tended to be bald, like Yul Brynner, as Rameses in the Ten Commandments.

So the commandment to not round the corners of the head, or mar the beard, is a commandment to not look Egyptian. This commandment was put in place so the HEBREWS would be able to start their own culture, and not be tied to the culture and appearances of the Egyptians.

So, since this law is specifically for Hebrews (the original people who left Egypt) so they wouldn't look Egyptian, it's obvious it doesn't apply to non-hebrew, True Christians (tm).

To sum up, the law says, don't shave your head and grow a goatee, if you are Jewish.

Brother, it doesn't appear that they have a goatee, nor does it look like they have shaved their head. It's obvious they are jews, so they are doing something right.

Just be thankful that the Bible (KJV1611) doesn't say,

                  Thou shalt grow a jewfro.
