Every year at the beginning of September they start showing programs that describe the horror of September 11, 2001. I was hoping that I wouldn't feel so strongly about it after a while, but I keep freaking out whenever the 9-11 chatter starts up again. It seems to get worse every year. For some reason I can't turn off the news; I seem to be compelled to watch over and over the stories about the terror attacks. It's horrifying and terrifying, but I can't stop watching. The stories of grief, survival and despair are so compelling.
I'm a pretty strong man and I don't cry very often, but I just can't imagine why people would hate America like they do. That makes me cry every year at this time and I'm not ashamed to say that.
