Jews don't call God Yahweh. They've lost the original pronunciation of YHWH. When Jews read the Torah, they substitute Adonai (Lord) for YHWH. This was the practice even in Jesus' time. Elohim is the Hebrew word for God, or gods. Let's look at Deut 6:4-5, which was translated from Hebrew.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord [YHWH] our God [Elohim] is one Lord [YHWH]: and thou shalt love the Lord [YHWH] thy God [Elohim] with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

No mistranslation there. Lord has been substituted for YHWH, and Elohim has been translated as God. Now let's look at the passage you originally quoted, which was translated from Greek, in which Jesus quotes Deut 6:5.

    Mat 22:36-40
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord
[Kyrios] thy God [Theos] with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Kyrios means Lord and Theos means God. Again, no mistranslation.

But that is just semantics, both religions follow the same god.
    Jesus didn't think so.

    Jn 8:41-45
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Verse 31 makes it clear Jesus was speaking to the Jews.

    Jn 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

The moment you quote the Old Testament, I loose you. I was taught, back when I was a Baptist, that the birth of Jesus closed the Old Testament, and that the rules, restrictions, and teachings of that portion of the Bible were to be disregarded as obsolete.
You were taught wrong. You can’t be a Christian if you don’t believe the Old Testament.

By my faith, you are the ones who sin. Your laws require that you eliminate those who do not follow the same god as you. My rede is simply this: Do what you will, so long as it harms none.
How can you believe in a religion that was fabricated within living memory?

        Praise the Lord.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Re: Why are Wiccans so fat and ugly? A study.

I made an account just to post in this thread. So, hi!

First off, I'm Wiccan. I'm also male, and thin. No I'm not going to post any pictures, because I really don't care whether you believe me. But when I joined the Air Force a few years ago I was almost underweight for my height. I agree, though, there are quite a lot of overweight Wiccans out there. I didn't know this was a stereotype until today, but it's kind of funny to me.

I became Wiccan after nearly 25 years of being a born-and-raised Catholic. I've seen your opinion of Catholics, so whether the "idolatry" of still-Jesus-affirming Catholicism is better than the "godlessness" of paganism I leave for you to judge (although a Protestant friend pointed out that in a way, I have more gods than she does). Again, I don't care. I'm also a member of a Bible study group and a Christian service group at my university. I mention all this to provide some background for what I'd like to say.

I really have to hand it to peaceandlove420 at the start of this thread. She had a lot more patience than I would have. She's been with her boyfriend for two years and is engaged to him, and you lot get on her case for not being married yet? Then you attack her father, who likes her fiance and gets along with him? Are you kidding me? At first I thought you couldn't possibly be serious, but as I kept reading I realized that no, you really are. You honestly believe that anyone who doesn't follow your definition of a good life should be accused and belittled until they believe what you want them to. If you haven't figured this out yet, that approach isn't going to convince anyone. It's only going to turn them away.

Here's how you convince people of religious things: If they're the same religion as you, you point out to them the support your religion provides for your perspective, and probably also debunk the support he or she probably thinks your religion provides for theirs. If they're not the same religion as you, you leave religion out completely and use simple reason-- or, better yet, you approach it from their religion's point of view and show them that their religion doesn't actually provide for their way of thinking.

Here's how you don't convince people of religious things: Tell them you're Right over and over again, tell them how Wrong they are, and if they aren't the same religion as you, tell them your religion doesn't like them. That's how you treated that girl. No wonder she left.

You can yell at me all you want. You can quote the Bible at me, you can talk about Hell at me, you can make claims about Satan having a hold on me. I've heard it all before, and honestly don't care. It isn't going to convince me you're Right and I'm Wrong. If there really were Wiccans who used the Bible for toilet paper, as Pastor Deacon Fred claims, then he's absolutely right. Shame on them. Such blatant disrespect is, well, shameful, and he has every right to be mad. I'd be mad too. But I promise you, it wasn't because they were performing some Satanic rite. Wicca and Satanism are two very different things.

I'm not saying you shouldn't preach the cross. By all means, do it. But do it to other Christians. Jesus was constantly telling other people not to sin any longer, preached about millstones around necks, and even overturned all the secular business tables in the Temple. But He preached to people who were already listening. He never walked up to someone and said "Hey. You suck for still being Jewish. Follow Me." And when the Apostles were told to "make disciples of all nations," what were they to do to any nation that didn't listen? Yell at its people over and over again? Gather an army and wipe it out? No. Shake its dust from their feet, and leave.

Which leads me to one last thing, something I never understood: if Christianity is the Truth, why are so many (not all, but many) Christians so adamant about eradicating all other religions? Shouldn't the Truth speak for itself and, like cream, rise to the top?

The Truth DOES speak for itself. But in case you haven't been paying attention, we live in a Fallen World. That means that Sin has entered this world (thank you, Eve), and because of that, Satan has become the ruler, or "prince of this world" (1 Corinthians 2:8). That means we are in a state of spiritual war (Ephesians 6:10-20), because Satan desires naught but to bring souls to .
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Please make a thread of your own in the "Introductions" section of the forum, so that we can properly greet you. Tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.

And if you're here to flame us, better take a look at THIS before making an even bigger ass out of yourself.

I will pray that the Holy Spirit enter you and chase the demons out of your rectum and let Jesus fill you with His Grace. If you use your God-given free will to reject Christ and His temporary death on the cross for my sins, then you are sending yourself to hellfire.

                  • Wiccan - there is actually no difference between catholicism and satanism

                  • born-and-raised Catholic - that any parent would do this to a child is beyond my comprehension

still-Jesus-affirming Catholicism and here is the result. How can anyone think that papists "affirm" Jesus in any way? It's like a mohammedan saying "yeah, man, islam is about peace, we would never harm another human being" all the while belting you over the head with an anvil.

                  • Christian service group - what makes you think it's Christian? Nothing I've ever seen admitting cathoclics and witches could be described as "Christian" BEACUSE everything those two do or think or say not only disagrees with everything Jesus teaches us but, even worse, in every detail enact the exact opposite of Biblical commandments. Once you start rationalising such abomination as "Jesus-affirming" your whole mind becomes warped. Take a look around. See those false Christians? Absolutely incapable of a straight thought even on a good day. As a witch of course you'll never get one of those.

Soon Jesus will be returning. You'll see..

I was reading the first part of your rant and yawning, and then I got to this part, where you proved yourself to be an idiot.

We do preach to other Christians, and I challenge you to find any example of where any True Christian ever went to a Wiccan site to criticise it, as you have done to us.

Further, the tables Jesus overturned were not secular. Kindly understand our religion before you pee all over it. If your knowledge of Wicca is a weak as your knowledge of Christianity, then at least there is hope for you to be educated here.

And finally, we do not want to eliminate other religions. This is not a contest. It is simply that those religions are false, and adherents thereto (such as yourself) will burn in Hell. We are trying to save souls, which is a manifestation of our Christian love. I have a feeling that if you and I saw a car wreck, I would be running over there to try to get people out before it explodes and you would be standing there screeching at me "Why are you interfering in other peoples' lives?"
"Come Unto Me. Put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath." (Matthew 19:14, Job 1:11).

I'm pretty sure the Bible is clear that your God is the one who passes judgement. Not any of you. So by what right do any of you have to judge Wiccans. It is their choice to be what they want to be and not yours. You don't see any of them getting angry about you. They still treat you with respect even when they are treated in this way.

Have you actually read the entire Bible, dear? Prayerfully? With an open heart towards service and obedience to God? Or are you simply cherry-picking the verses you like?

First, you are using a false Bible translation. Use the KJV only or don't use one at all. Second, note the highlighted part of the second verse you used. That means we are supposed to judge, just righteously (which we do by calling out sin - see also John 14:8). Third, are you some kind of sissy or something defending goths?

                          How wrong you are--again...

Matthew 18:18: Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

John 20:21-23: 21Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: 23Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

This shows us in no uncertain terms how, through the Bible-directed power of the Holy Spirit, we are to judge and legislate God's Will on earth. By calling out sins of the flesh and spirit, we have done exactly that. I'm sorry you can't handle The Truth©. Go find some place to cry about it.

Well, they tend to be fat, pimply-faced, pale, sickly kids without sufficient parental guidance, which would make it kind of hard for them to be objective, thought-out individuals who have a defined worldview from which to oppose us, no?

You posted: "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

All Christians have noticed that log. And Jesus has removed it. That is just how powerful His Blood really is. HALLELUJAH! God explains it this way:
I John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. KJV

But God doesn't stop there. It is true that Christians cannot sin but of course not everyone is a Christian. Some people are catholics instead. Or Zoroastrians. Or even witches. God knows all about witches and what is appropriate when dealing with witches.
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. KJV

Now I don't know whether anyone would say they were a witch when they weren't. Maybe. But fortunately we have Jesus to guide us so I don't have to worry about that. And Jesus requires us to judge. Judge righteously. So when a Pastor tells me that someone is a witch I KNOW that is true because our Pastors cannot sin (unlike priests). The judgement is sound. And Jesus has spoken directly to us, today (as we know because there were no sinless people, except Jesus, at the time). We enjoy the privilege of knowing God and of going to Heaven when we die while everyone else gets dumped into the everlasting torture facility. That's how much He loves us! But with privileges come responsibilities, and we need look no farther than the words of Jesus:
John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. KJV

If you are a wiccan and would like to renounce evil the Pastors would be only too pleased to show you God's Plan For Deliverance. Hell is not a picnic, especially not for witches. Come to Him today.

We judge in righteousness and none shall judge us!

1st Corinthians 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1st Corinthians 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?.
1st Corinthians 6:4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church*
                              .

You should be pleased that we are merely judging! Were it not for secular laws, there would be a stoning with stones!

Deuteronomy 13:6-10If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die.

*and I'll have you know I am hugely proud of just how humble I am! Far more humble than your sort of scum.
