The Orange Order is the largest Protestant organisation in Northern Ireland. Its a political group, although not to be confused with an actual political party.

That makes no sense. Oranges won't grow in Ireland. Wouldn't the Potato or Parsnip Order have been a more appropriate name?

It name comes from the colour of their uniforms, flags etc, not the fruit. If you are interested you might want to read up on them, they have a log history. They are mainly based in Northern Ireland and Scotland, though they have lodges in the U.S.

One more thing I forgot to mention, The Orange Institution commemorates William of orange, this is where the name first came from, although im not 100% sure.

No, he was a Dutch Prince who became king of England, Scotland and Ireland in 1688. He was also known as William lll. Although the orange order wasnt founded until 1796.

Don't worry though, I was almost 30 and had given up hope before I was blessed.
