    Re: Ask an Authentic Wiccan

Mr. Kirkeholm, why is a handsome Christian man such as yourself so interested in witchcraft? Wouldn't a better use of your time be to read your KJV bible than to waste it trying to pick up a witch?

Don't be ridiculous. Even witches know Harry Potter isn't real. But to answer your question, yes, I do know Gandalf personally.

Why do you wanna go to Hell? Why do you hate Baby Jesus?
I don't hate Baby Jesus friend, and Wiccans don't believe in Hell.

    What is your favorite hobby?
    Dancing skyclad, of course.

Why mock someone if you don't hate him?

And it doesn't matter that you don't believe in Hell. You will still end up there. It's like saying: "I don't believe in gravity so when I jump of a building I won't die."

Could you please explain how your "ancient" religion was invented by Gerald Gardener and his band of kooks (R.L. Hubbard, Crowley, etc) in the 1940's? I mean I realize that 70 years is ancient to you teenagers, but really compared to 2000 years of Christianity, you're the new kids on the block.

Friend, I thought we were having a peaceful interfaith dialogue here. If you feel I have offended you or mocked your God, please point out to me where I have done so that I may phrase things more peacefully in the future.

I find it interesting you are counting the 1500 years or so where the only brand of Christianity was Catholicism. Does not your Church believe them not to be Christians?

But, to answer your question, it is true that Wicca and neo-paganism are, technically speaking, relatively young religions. The roots of such beliefs are quite old however. If your argument is that the age of a religion determines its authenticity, then by your logic the Jews have the most authentic religion.

And L. Ron Hubbard had absolutely nothing to do with Wicca, he's the scientology kook.

The above regarding Catholicism is patently false. Catholicism was never the first Christianity or any Christianity at all.

Soon after Jesus died the term Christian was first used in Antioch.

(Read all of Acts 11 to see in complete context, but here is Acts 11:23:25 for the gist

              Acts 11:24-26

Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

It was at least 3 centuries later that people called themselves Catholics and that was all based around "st" Peter in the main, and not actually Jesus Christ. The original Christians in Antioch could not have imagined that their belief would be tainted by papist scum. Catholics never were and never will be Christians as they are polythiests. They will pray to just about anyone as long as 'saint' is straddling the name.

              Now a question for you:

Why are witches obsessed with bells and ribbons? Is it to deafen your sacrifices prior to tying them and burning them?

First of all Mrs. Dewitt, I would like to thank you for pointing out my mistake regarding the Catholic church and taking the time to post that excellent information.

Now, onto the next two questions...

An excellent question Pastor Peters. I could say that there a wide range of political beliefs among wiccans, but just as there are "christians" and "True Christians™" there are "wiccans" and "Authentic Wiccans". Regular wiccans are usually somewhere on the leftist side of things, but all Authentic Wiccans are anarcho-syndicalists with no exceptions.

Mrs. Dewitt, while it is true that witches love their bells and ribbons, I feel you are mistaken on exactly who ties up and burns whom. Witches have a long history of being tied up and burnt on stakes, and that is why the only thing witches burn nowadays are various plant matters of varying legalities. The real reason witches have so many bells is because the constant jangling sound attracts spirits (or, as you would say, "demons") which then grant small favors for witches for other small favors.

The ribbons are because they are pretty.

Blessed be, my inquisitive friends (dare I say this is my favorite inquisition yet?)

Never heard of John THE BAPTIST?

Catholics didn't show up on the scene until (loosely) Constantine, and all he did was take Roman paganism and slap Jesus' name on it.

Ron Hubbard used to hang around with Gardener, same as Crowley. They were all members of the Ordo Templi Orientis. I really wish you would learn more about the beginning of your own "religion".

My dear Kassandra, Witch Surely on a Bender:

As Mrs. DeWitt has aptly pointed out (isn't she clever? And so articulate!), the Catholic cult didn't come into authority until about 300 years after Jesus returned to Heaven.

The rituals of the Catholic cult are not to be found in the Bible. They were made up later, and have nothing to do with Christianity. In fact, many believe that the Catholic mitre is an evolution (if I may use that term) of the headgear of Dagon's priests.

But Pagans are recorded as having sacrificed animals and humans for centuries. Since they were apparently illiterate, there aren't written scriptures to go by to explain why. We can only assume that it was done to please their demon gods.

Since you have no written scriptures (other than the silly "Teen Witch" books by Silverbunny Ravenfluff, and Gerald Gardner's nonsense), and you are so divorced from the ancient Pagans, how can you know you are or are not pleasing your demon goddess by refraining from sacrifices?

                      Re: Ask an Authentic Wiccan

Excellent points, the both of you.

Now, first of all, I must admit I was mistaken in making my "1500 years" comment. I will assume, for the sake of argument (and you may correct me again if I am wrong), that the proto-Catholic Church (before it split between the Catholic Church as we know it and the Eastern Orthodox Church) can be considered to have begun in 325 AD with the council of Nicaea. Now, if I remember my Roman history correctly, the Roman empire was rather quick to absorb all the other Christian groups of the time and was quite aggressive in promoting their brand of Christianity. Any differences of opinion were rather quickly branded heretics and quashed (Albigensian Crusade, anyone?) so I believe it is rather fair to assume that, for a period of around 900-1000 years, the Catholic Church WAS christianity (notice I left it uncapitalized).

Now, you are correct that L. Ron Hubbard was a member Ordo Templi Orientis, but that does not necessarily mean that he had anything to do with the founding of Wicca. Hubbard was a notorious liar, as can be seen when he claimed to be a blood brother of the Blackfeet Nation, a tribe that never practiced that belief. Hubbard's main contact in OTO was a man named Jack Parsons, who was an associate of Crowley's. It is well-documented, however, that Crowley thought Hubbard was a fraud (which he was). As far as contact between Gardener and Hubbard, I can find no records of anything, so I think its safe to assume Hubbard's influence on Wicca was minimal at best.

And Rev. Rodimer, I must say that I don't believe your last argument to be a very fair one. How often do you come on this forum and see atheists saying "how do u no wut god wants a dont use the bible!!111"? Do you not feel that your argument is somewhat analogous?

Now, I am off for a while friends. I will be happy to address any concerns with my arguments as soon as I am back online.

                      Blessed be, my Christian friends

Not at all, my Ewok-loving furry* friend. (Or are you pretending to be the long-dead Canaanite whom King Saul consulted, and who conjured a demon impersonating Samuel?)

You don't HAVE any ancient scriptures. Because of the disconnect between ancient and modern Pagans, you have no way to know what they were thinking while they were doing what they were doing.

They sacrificed humans and animals. You do not. Yet you worship the same demons. Why do you think that your failure to sacrifice won't anger your demons?

As for the atheistards asking us to explain how we know what God wants "without using the Bible" . . . it's not possible, and you should know that is the standard response. "Feelings" and "logic" are easily manipulated by Satan or our own desires, so we rely on Scripture to tell us what is right and wrong.

Whilst out walking last night, I wondered whether people dancing nude apart from being painted all over like giant toadstools with flourescent paint standing on rocks under blacklights in an otherwise dark forest setting would be pagans or heathens? I think demon goddesses inform participants regarding this point

I am pleased to see that I've only been gone for two hours and there are already plenty of questions ready for me. Let me address your concerns friends.

On a personal note Mr. Bobby-Joe, I must say I love your robes. Any chance you could tell me where you got them? I'm sure they'd make quite a impression at my next Dragonfest.

I'm a young womyn, and have no husband yet.

What sacred poll of water do you ritually strangle and toss victims into as offerings to the gods?
Unfortunately, I'm a little wary of giving away any information that may lead to my location. I'm sure you understand. But please be assured there is a very sacred pool of water that I don't ritually strangle and toss victims in near me.

Well, since this is a Christian forum, I chose a name for myself that I thought would be appropriate. I'll let you figure out which of those two it is.

You don't HAVE any ancient scriptures. Because of the disconnect between ancient and modern Pagans, you have no way to know what they were thinking while they were doing what they were doing.
I concede this point to you, Reverend

They sacrificed humans and animals. You do not. Yet you worship the same demons. Why do you think that your failure to sacrifice won't anger your demons?
Tell me Reverend, is it true that you are both a Reverend and run TermiWix? It seems to me that the stress of both of these endeavors may be getting to you. Might I suggest to you that you relax, maybe dissolve TermiWix, and release the captive witches?

Now, it seems to me that you are suggesting that "demons" cannot change their minds or decide they want to be worshiped differently over the course of 2000 years or so. Is there a scriptural basis for this?

As for the atheistards asking us to explain how we know what God wants "without using the Bible" . . . it's not possible, and you should know that is the standard response. "Feelings" and "logic" are easily manipulated by Satan or our own desires, so we rely on Scripture to tell us what is right and wrong.
Thank you for agreeing with me.

*Or would that make you a plushie? Ewoks not being real, of course.
I am not sure. Might I suggest asking a furry?

Well, Ms. Lizalor, I meant to imply in my post that though the Cathars were christian, they were not True Christians™. I used them to illustrate the point that the Catholic Church was very aggressive about eliminating christian groups that were different from them, and as they were quite powerful in that era, they were also quite effective at it

Whilst out walking last night, I wondered whether people dancing nude apart from being painted all over like giant toadstools with flourescent paint standing on rocks under blacklights in an otherwise dark forest setting would be pagans or heathens? It would assist in witnessing to them, I feel, if we could know in advance whom we were approaching.
Those were probably Pagans. Heathens are usually somewhat more inclined to wearing clothes.

                                Blessed be, my ewok-obsessed friends
