So we do have a few things to thank Europe for :)

    For one, the KJV1611.

And I noticed a True Christian (where is that tm mark?) signature had a close up shot of Caravaggio's Sacrifice of Isaac along with a relevant verse.

And the Gutenberg printing press. Without it, the world would have been way behind on getting to a place where Bibles could be printed in local dialects, including English. Since before that, of course, most people couldn't own them on account of Latin being a "scholar's" language.

Hehe, sorry, I get excited about history.

Why aren't you studying what is important to women?

    Cooking
    Cleaning
    Producing soldiers for Christ?
PROOF: Atheists are too stupid to understand the Bible!

Proverbs 13:24(KJV): "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

No it isn't. Not knowing your scripture is dangerous.

I think you have your facts wrong. If it wasn't for Jesus we would not have the modern printing press. Printing in various forms existed centuries before Guttenberg. The chinks in China were using a form of movable type made from clay, and there existed woodcuts before that in various parts of the world. What was missing was Jesus and the demand for Bibles – without that Guttenberg would have been a financial failure and his "invention" would be in the dustbin of history.

Jesus, capitalism and Bibles – as true today as it was in the 15th Century.

I'm appalled by your ignorance. The hell-bound European countries are responsible for supplanting True Christianity™ with their own devilish invention of Catholicism. It wasn't until our Lord created the blesséd United States that True Christianity™ could flourish, as He had always intended it to, from the foundation of the world. Someone -- such as yourself, Molly Anne -- who's benefited from a South Carolina public education should know that.

Also, Molly Anne, I'm suspicious of the un-American "e" that's affixed to the end of your name. Is not the mucho American -- and solidly True Christian™ -- name "Ann" good enough for you? Are you trying to deceive us with your post, and in reality, do you admire the Europeans for their terrible food, treacherous highways, hirsute females and easy access to Islamofascist influences? Are you, Molly Anne, an Islamofascist sympathizer? I'm pretty sure you are.

I'm many things, but not ignorant. America is a comparatively new country. You really won't thank England for producing your preferred version of the Bible...? It would be great if it had been written in America, but it wasn't.

No, I don't sympathize with Islam. But a few of your most beloved members, I believe, are interested in history - some can even read Latin and Greek.

Obviously I am not European myself, but most of us have Euro heritage. Without it, we wouldn't exist, seeing as how this country had to be settled in order to develop.

Anne, the grandmother of Jesus, is written "Anne." I'm sure the real woman had a Hebrew name, but the colloquial usage is the same as my middle name.

And please answer the question - why does one of your most esteemed member's signature have a section of a 16th century Italian painting?

Because you/they seem to hate Europe. I'm an art historian, though. No matter whether I agree with something underlying the art or the artist, the study of it in cultural and historical context is usually what's important. For he record I do love Caravaggio.

There were a few question marks in his response...I figure I should answer them. Besides, I'm only attempting to have a conversation. And you have yet to explain how we don't owe another continent our heritage and the KJV. I'm not antagonistic, but would you please consider answering this question?

It's not a blanket hatred of any and everything European. In fact, there are European True Christians(tm). They're just expressing disappointment at modern European governments and behavior, which you have to admit are markedly anti-Biblical in many respects.

When it comes to Catholic art, as long as there's nothing blasphemous or anti-Biblical, why not enjoy a beautiful rendition of a True Bible(tm) story? (even if, as Baptists, they'd much prefer that Isaac's facial expression be one of ecstatic joy at his impending reunion with his Creator, instead of sheer stark terror).

Definitely! Also, 15th and 16th century art actually depicts more obscure Bible stories from the old testament...Susanna and the elders, Holofernes, etc. When that artistic tradition dwindled, there wasn't such a dedication to Biblical scenes again.
