    Insomnia thread:

Dear Brothers: I want to confide in you a personal issue that has been plaguing me. I have been suffering poor sleep for years. No matter whether I go to sleep at 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. I always wake up too early, around 4 a.m.

I didn't realize until last month when I was watching the World Cup Soccer games at ungodly early hours and heard the vuvuzela for the first time that was the noise that was keeping me awake at night!

The noise was so faint that it wasn't audible until all was quiet. I had bees in the wall and that is what I was hearing! I hadn't noticed, partially because the wall is on my neighbor's side of the house and I don't go out there very often.

Sometimes I would wake up and hear buzzing and when I opened the window I couldn't hear anything. I thought I was imagining it until I noticed the bees buzzing around the top of the wall.

The bad part is that the hive was RIGHT NEXT TO MY BED and that is why it was keeping me awake. If it had been in a different wall I wouldn't have had any trouble sleeping.

Barack Obama has insisted that no bees should be killed, EVER, so I was forced to hire an apiarist to extract the bees at an exorbitant cost:

It cost 450$ to get the bees out of the wall and I only got stung once. I can't wait to get a decent night's sleep.

After all that I didn't even get a drop of honey or even a candle- the bee keeper took all of the bees and the hive to use for himself.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

    Well, that's Obamanomics for ya!

Politics aside, I hope you'll be able to sleep peacefully now.

      It's illegal to kill bees?

We had a similar incident back 20 years or so ago. We just waited until night, sprayed foaming insecticide into it, and stopped up the hole.

I thought about doing that but when I googled it they said that the whole hive and the honey will rot in the wall and start to smell like something horrible. Plus, the wax will melt and stain the walls forever.

You can't know how much is in the wall until you open it, but I was pretty sure that I had a major colony and I was right. There were a lot of bees! I feel better knowing that they are out and not rotting inside of my wall.

If I was a renter or on welfare I wouldn't care, but I own my house so it's important to me to keep it in decent shape. I do what I can. I was on the ladder after the bee guy left patching the holes on the outside. The bees didn't bother me, but I did wear gloves and a net hat.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Update: the bees are gone but I still have the insomnia. I keep waking up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. I know that I'm REALLY going to need my nap the next day.

I could use some suggestions. I've tried not going to bed so early, skipping naps. I was hoping that the lack of sleep would cause me to get a good night's sleep eventually but that's not the way to fight the problem, by feeding it.

            ;Sigh:

I suggest your weather service thread.

Somehow the internet gets the weather right more often than the weather channel and the TV forecasters, although I suspect that they all use the same sources.

There's all kinds of information to search, but mostly I like to know when the rain is going to stop!

Well, the reason for posting here was to see what service other people use. I'm not loyal to WU, so I'd like to see what else is recommended.

That wouldn't work for me. I've been perfectly moral and righteous in all of my thoughts and actions since day one. I suppose I could reflect on my spiritual perfection and then listen to Jesus gush over me until I fall sleep.

Brother Nobar, on the other hand, could surely benefit from your advice.

Brother Nobar, I had trouble sleeping for quite a while after my dear Jacob went to Jesus. I found the most important thing was to have a routine; go to bed at the same time each night, get up at the same time each morning.

Make sure you do only relaxing and peaceful things for an hour or so before bed-time. For example, it would be a good idea not to visit these forums, as you may become angry at some of the nonsense posted.

I found drinking warm milk helped, but for a man perhaps Brother COM's suggestion of whiskey would be better.

Whiskey is nice, but I find that even if I drink a lot of it I still wake up around 1 a.m. Even if I get up and drink some more I'm still awake until around 4 a.m., when I'm sometimes able to get a little shut-eye but then I'm awake at 7 a.m. again. I don't call it a nap because it doesn't count if a good night's sleep is only two hours long.

OMH is right. I probably should just re-read all of the threads I've made on this BBS. Some of them are pretty boring.
