Perhaps, but it is unclear. Just as many words or phrases considered are 'acceptable', they are often ambiguous or lacking in common knowledge or usage. One of the beauties of the English language is its' ability to enable a person to be crystal clear regarding their written or spoken thought.

I could write something like this: "He is caught in a vice." Does that mean he is a Homer or was building something in the garage and pinched himself? Certainly, in this case, not staying to the precise word has significance. Straying from correct usage is part of the down fall of civilization. We should instead strive for accuracy and clarity.
