Thinking how lucky it was your friend was a Baptist rather than, say, a Unitarian or a Zen. But then I reflected that God knew whether you'd been predestinated unto adoption by Jesus to himself, not just within your own lifetime but when He laid the foundations of the world itself.

Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

There are unbelievers out there whose friends invited them to a ceremony where the message of Christ was not taught; perhaps they listened to the message and are now Hindus or moon worshippers? God knew that would happen but not having predestinated them to adoption by Christ to Himself, it didn't make much difference what sort of heathen they started out as or wound up converting to.

Other passages approach God's understanding of what Salvation means in different ways, appropriate for different situations, but at no time contradicting His words in Ephesians. Neither will they support the idea of a changing God, one whose standards were one thing for Abraham, something else for Moses, completely different for Jonah Job & Joshua but utterly reimagined for Jesus and/or Martin Luther. They were all in different circumstances, obviously, and God's ministry would be appropriate for that place and time. For example in Luther's Germany there was no need for manna or a pillar of fire by night. That doesn't mean God has turned into someone who "can't do manna" or for whom "pillars of fire are not a thing." Quite the reverse: it's His nature not to change just as when He was laying the foundations of the world He knew when and where manna and fire pillars would be required, all about Job and the necessary magnitude of Christ's suffering, right down to which weddings in which Churches would lead a sinner to Him.

Then I understood, no, it wasn't luck at all.

When the midwife would tell my wife, Mrs. Hutchins she was with female child, I'd take her out to the barn and let the mule kick the baby into a male.

Why did you do that? Can you be 100% sure that exposure to the death rays is not what turned the child female?

As to how to deal with the news, the answer to this question (and all others) is prayer. And look on the bright side. I have found that a single female child can be helpful in domestic matters and, if non-retarded, can assist in the schooling of her younger brothers. More than one would be a curse, though.

Oh, my goodness! I do think that you have hit the nail ever-so-squarely on the head, dear Sister Joanna. We don't know all of the ins and outs of how those machines work, and it would not surprise me if those leering xray contraptions have a way of changing DNA, or chromosomes, or whatever it is that determines the gender of a person. And -- even worse -- it gives me great grief to think that the baby of Mrs. Bella might turn out to be a bound homersexualist! As you well know, Satan will stop at nothing to snatch a wee new-born from the Army of the ! And the earlier the devil can get his claws on this baby, then the harder it will be for the child to take a stand for later in life.

And, if that horrid travesty should occur, then it will be no time before the young one starts taking an interest in picture books which feature lezbean activities. All may not be lost just yet, dear. If you went to a medical facility to have an ultrasound, then you can be sure you paid a pedophile to take pictures of a nekkid unborn child. Pedophiles cannot be trusted and this one was positively drooling at the thought of peeking at a little baby girl's sin-box. This is why they told you it was a girl.

This is the most perverted sort of perversion in the pedophilia circles - ultrasound photographers.

No dear, you do not need to take the personal assurances of a pedophile seriously. I tell you from one Biblical woman to the next, go home, get some sleep, repent, pray unceasingly for a healthy baby boy. This morning, I was over at The Cracker Barrel having the 'Working Mans' breakfast with the local guys. After we had finished eating (certainly not a topic while eating) we were talking about this ultrasound.

I know when I am at a stop light and some God hating nigra punk in a gook car pulls alongside going thumpty-thump-thump, that is like an ultrasound. So we men decided that it is a way to make deaf babies.
All I know is if God wants a baby to be deaf, He will make it so, we do not need the interference of so-called medical people to pick and choose what God should or should not do. It is plain crazy!

Dear, is there a reason why your husband prefers to trust doctors rather than Jesus on the subject of health?

While it is unfit for a female to teach a man (1 Timothy 2:12), maybe you could meekly (and silently!) suggest a reading of 2 Chronicles 16?

Of course, it is quite possible that your husband is perfectly aware of this verse and that he is actively trying to make you displease the Lord, hoping that God will kill you, so that you husband can look for a newer model. In this case you are in a real pickle, dear: if you follow your husband's advice and keep seeking physicians rather than Our Lord, then God will punish you, and if you don't follow your husband's advice and try to seek God's help instead, you'll still anger God for not obeying your husband.

It is quite the dilemma, isn't it? I thank Jesus every day for giving me a husband who is of one mind with Our Beloved Lord (who is both Him and His Father) in such matters.
