  • Hello from a Pious Portuguese :D

    Hello,

First I want to tell you, I am a Catholic Christian. As a Catholic I find it my duty to thank God for every day I live, for every slice of bread, for every sip of water, for everything cherisable in life. I am also a very open and tolerant person, and my motto is that if there is only one way to heaven, it'll get jammed easily. So I find that Christianity is Christianity, whether you be a Baptist, a Catholic, a Lutheran, an Orthodox, an Anglican... The big concept is basically the same, whereas the trivial, little differences between them are very neglectable.

I have many favorite bible verses I like. My favorite though, is where Jesus changes water into wine at Kanaa (John 2:1-25).

I don't go to any church in particular, although I love visiting European Cathedrals like the Basilica di San Marco in Venice, the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, the Cathedral of Our Lady in Chartres, and so on....

    God be with you!

Looking at your post, it seems you are not white. Therefore you will go to hell. Good luck sinner!
My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.

Please feel free to become a Baptist whenever your busy schedule allows.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Oh, I'm so sorry. You have my condolences. And Catolicks are not Christians.

If you were a True Christian(tm) you would know better.

If you really feel that way, why are you still Roman Catolick? It would be more logical for you to switch religions every year, or better yet every six months. I can only assume by what you write that what Jesus said doesn't count. Next you will tell us every religious book is the same or even worse every Bible, even though they say different things?

So you are confessing to us publicly that you are an alcoholic? At least you didn't go in and get molested by one of those Catolick pedophile priests and confess to him about your drunkenness.

I'm surprised you did not say, "Deus vobiscum" like all brainwashed Catolicks. Perhaps they just don't teach kids like they use to.

Your point being that I could say the same thing about Lutheranism, Mormonism or perhaps even Baptism?

The point is that some of those Catholic things, like Celibacy, were used just for a certain goal. The idea behind celibacy was that a priest could better focus on his devotedness on God if he didn't have a family to maintain. And maintaining families back then was way more difficult than it is now, at least economically.

In other words, the Catolick church was afraid they would have to part with some of the money they stole from their people?

Errr, no. The idea was that, as well-to-do families often sent the eldest son (who would inherit the lion's share of his parent's estate) for priesthood, if they were celibate, there would be no heirs, and hey presto, the loving Church would get it all.

The Catholics, as usual, didn't let the fact that there is no Biblical support for clerical celibacy (and plenty of verses to counter it) slow them down on their quest to conquer the world spread the Word of Gawd.

I bet is was, as catlick clergy spend all their coin from the coffers on wine and whores "back then".

Nevertheless, main point is that it is against the scripture forbidding to marry.

1 Timothy 4:1-3 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

What gibberish is that? The oldest son of a noble family would marry with a daughter from another family in order to strenghten familiar ties between them. The oldest son would then inherit his family's fiefdoms, and a part of his wife's family's fiefdoms. Only younger sons were sent for clerical duties, certainly if the family was too poor to give a piece of land to EVERY son they had.

What would happen is that the rich sons would buy a bishopric, priorship, or abbotship making them instant head of a monastery and one of the brothers/monks. They would often have wives. Now let me ask you a question. Can you explain to me in your own words what the vow of poverty is?

I think you fell for the revised history they brainwashed you with. You apparently do not know much about the real history of the RCC.

Re: Hello from a Pious Portuguese

There are alot of misconceptions about the vow of poverty. I give you a historical example. A Knight Templar had to make a vow of poverty if he wanted to join the Order for good. Yet the Order itself became very rich through banking and inheriting fiefdoms through deceased members. AT FIRST one would say that the Knights threw their vows into the garbage bin. But was there any Knight 'rich' himself? A Knight himself wouldn't even own a single golden coin himself, thus he obeyed the vow of poverty. The vows actually meant that everything the Order had was common good. While an Order Knight didn't possess anything, the Order itself used its wealth to distribute any necessary materials.

So, the vow certainly doesn't mean one needs to be a poor hermit in a cave.

Say this, is there actually a 'Freehold' in Iowa or is that just a dream/imagination? You apparently don't know so much about your (fictional) Landover church.

Well....no exactly very white. Portuguese peoples is a little more black or brown that we espanishs peoples. Is because the 'moros' (Arabs?) was there long time and have more gypsys too. Only I went in Portugal two times and was appeared to me that Portuguese peoples was very dark skinny, a little like our espanish gitanos.

No that I have a problem whit this. I like Portugal mostly. Is great place if you like eat codfish everyday and whit everything so the foods wasn't the more interesting but the peoples was quiet nice I think.
