Very convincing. So basically we're to accept that Jesus existed because of some vaguely remembered hearsay evidence?

What's wrong with the Bible? All of it?

I am aware you are "telling it like it is". You're not doing a very good job of making your religion seem very attractive, if I have to become an utterly intolerant person to follow it. There are reasons why the other churches stopped following the Bible to the letter.

So you would rather we told lies about God so people like what we are saying? How will that help people to not offend God if they aren't really believing in God?

The Bible was written during a time of misogyny, racism and homophobia. Are you suggesting that we should all return to those days? Face it, the Bible needs an update to the world of now.

Religion was created in order for the ancients to explain the things happening around them, things which we now understand. Denying things which have been proven fact is like a small child with its hands over its eyes and its fingers in its ears because it doesn't like something. Humans are the top of the foodchain because we adapt so well to things. Why not to this also. After all, if we are to hypothetically say God exists, why would He create us with such a propensity for adaptation if He did not wish us to use it. Change helps perfect things, it has been proven time and again. After all, the Bible you yourselves quote is the output from much change.

Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:

but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

From the sweet lips of Jesus Himself. I wonder what He would say if He visited a 'modern' Church?

I think you must agree that we at Landover fit the second part of His statement more than the first part?

Exactly. When you were inschool, you learned 10 + 10 = 20. At first, you did not know why. But when asked, you responded appropriately. You had faith.
From here on, is where people are better than dogs.
Then over time, you come to a level of conciousnous where you understood.

A good joke. It's nice the guy was rewarded for his faith.
Not a joke, it is a parable. I think your failure to see the poignancy is exactly why you do not have faith in God. The man was not rewarded, he was sent to Hell. God helped the man as much as was possible. Each time, the man refused the help because he refused to understand it was by the Divine Intervention Of God(c) that a SUV, Boat and a Helicopter were sent. The man apparently was expecting God Himself to swoop down and save him. Does the CEO of a toilet paper company rush over and replace the roll when it runs out?
The critical point here is that God will only be there so many times in your life. Many think "I can wait until I am on my deathbed, why bother doing anything about it now". God sees through these ploys and will not oblige.
Read about when Einstein, Darwin and other God haters said on their deathbeds. They all begged for His forgiveness. God got the last laugh.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

In essence, the conflict that exists today is no more than an old-style struggle for power, once again presented to mankind in semireligious trappings. The difference is that, this time, the development of atomic power has imbued the struggle with a ghostly character; for both parties know and admit that, should the quarrel deteriorate into actual war, mankind is doomed. Despite this knowledge, statesmen in responsible positions on both sides continue to employ the well-known technique of seeking to intimidate and demoralize the opponent by marshaling superior military strength. They do so even though such a policy entails the risk of war and doom. Not one statesman in a position of responsibility has dared to pursue the only course that holds out any promise of peace, the course of supranational security, since for a statesman to follow such a course would be tantamount to political suicide. Political passions, once they have been fanned into flame, exact their victims...

I had forgotten about that. Thanks for reminding me. No thanks for the racial slur. Thankyou also for taking the trouble to find an unbiased article. Do note, however, that it does not prove any of your quotes true. Einstein believed in A God, but not yours.
