Got any scripture or are you just going to ask us to accept your mind farts as beyond question?

      Re: Hello there

      @Mary

I've read the bible darlin', I come from a religious family however I was not indoctrinated. I was allowed to make my choice when I was old enough. In your eyes no doubt I made the wrong one but I find reassurance in what I can see, feel and prove, not in the small comfort to protect me from the void of death.

      @Papist

I'm not looking for God's word, 'his words' I can read any time I read the bible. I'd rather have your words, not quotes thrown out of context.

And as for scripture, if you needed me to I could sit and get my copy of the bible out, find each passage that's relevant but really, what's the point? I understand I'm not changing your mind one bit and any interpretation I make of the bible will only be swayed by my own viewpoint, just as yours is.

You're getting my words. But rather than vomit out unsubstantiated thoughts as they pop into my head I choose to reflect on whether I would be misrepresenting my Lord if I passed comment on His will without first consulting with His inerrant word.

Do you not find that people just look at you and find you a bit of a gobshite because you're ranting your own opinion and flapping about questioning your betters all the time without anything at all to back you up? You've been consistently wrong already in this thread.

You seem like an intelligent young lady so I say this with the greatest of respect:

You know what we are about here and I worry that you hold our most cherished beliefs in some kind of wry amusement.

This is of course, your prerogative but please have some consideration for the feeling and beliefs we hold dear.

Why do you think Jesus caused you to come here? We all come to Him, eventually: perhaps it is your time?

          All the best.

            Re: Hello there

Papist, I feel like I'm getting very few of your own words but should you feel that way then fair enough, perhaps your own thoughts always have been utterly contained within the scripture, perhaps you have never doubted or your opinion has never been different, in which case I might as well be reading the bible to read your opinion.

And no, I don't commonly have that problem really... perhaps because in general the people I have discussed religion with have been willing to discuss rather than fall to insults. My betters? Really? Sinning again there Papist, I catch a note of pride.

There are a lot of quotes, you've used that one already in this thread, find a better one.

And some how I doubt I'll ever put my penis in another man's rectum, particularly since I don't have one. I have a moral compass but mine is guided by one of the few things in the bible that I find very right "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

            And Laurence,

I'm not intending this as an affront at all... I've studied various religions and I find myself fascinated by people's points of view, I am not here to lessen or take away from your beliefs, I have no doubt that I cannot sway you in one way or another... I'm interested in hearing what you think without actually being subjected to a rigorous shout of bile and hate.

Kito Logan was the one that caused me to come here in fact, and if you wish to believe it, Jesus may have done so through him but in fact I don't think I'd be joining this community... should I be swayed and brought round, if I accepted religion and found faith I could not abide to be in a place filled with so much hate.

You are the first one to treat me with any respect. And I have a feeling you might be the only one.

                Re: Hello there

Arcwarp, since you have no interest in our views, what makes you think we are interested in yours?
God gave us free will to do as we please and pay the prices for our choices. This is why we have Pastors, True Christians, God haters and Homers. You are no Pastor or True Christian.
Everyone here has treated you with respect. Having people be honest is a big sign of respect. Otherwise, we'd tell you that we like what you said but the phone is ringing.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Who said I'm not under the supervision of my husband? I'd like to see your justification for this however but honestly sexism isn't something that bothers me, I face enough idiotic men telling me to 'suck their cock' and other lewd acts for this to bother me.

And yes, how about you take a wider view rather than picking the same quote over and over again.

His posts say nothing about his gender, the fact he's got the reproductive organs of a male make him a man and hell, I find him to be a far better man than the moderation here that seem to agree that rape is acceptable, women need beating etc etc.

James, if you're not interested, close the tab and walk away. You ain't gotta read it bro.

As it happens though I'm interested in your beliefs, how could I ever come to understand and accept them if I don't first have them explained fully to me? Ignorance is something that should not be accepted.

Free will is the only argument you have for evil existing, otherwise you have to accept that god cannot be omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and omni-benevolent.

And that is the first time I've heard insults being called respectful.

If you've not read the King James Version, printed first in 1611, then you've read a bastardized rendition of some fallible person's idea of what the Bible ought to say. You say you come from a religious family but clearly not a truly Christian one. You make whatever choices you want, darlin', but you will spend all eternity as the personal toy of Satan if you don't make the only choice necessary. (Romans 10:9)

Evolution, why moms don't have three arms?

Because we come from the bilateria group of animals which while having a bottom and top are almost always symmetrical. Look at your skeletal structure and how in fact there is not a mammel on the planet with three arms or even four unless a mutation at birth caused by a genetic defect. A little basic biology for you there. Evolution only enhances traits already possible, it doesn't create entire new ones just to make it easier for you!

Part of the way we evolved all the way back from one cell that first consumed another. Where'd you think ribosomes from? How do you think viruses change from year to year and your granny has to keep getting those pesky flu shots? Evolution.
