Some twit looking at Charlie Chaplin's 1928 film, "The Circus", has decided that an old woman seen in the film is talking on a cell phone. Oh, and a man.

One with at least half a functioning brain would spend at least 5 minutes doing some basic Google research, and learn that wire recorders were available from the late 1800s, becoming smaller and more portable over time. As small as about 2" x 4.5" x 7".

Since this was a film premiere, doubtless the woman was a reporter dictating notes to herself for the article she'd later write, not a man from the future in drag, talking on his iPhone.

Well it's not like we don't get our share of raving lunatics on here. My eyes aren't what they used to be, and I don't have great graphics card or anything, but I'm not even convinced that there is something in her hand. I'm thinking this is some person muttering to themselves and holding their hand up to their face either to keep the sun out of their eyes or to avoid being filmed by the camera.

There weren't any cell phone towers in 1928, so her cell phone wouldn't have had a signal.

It could have been added into the film recently, film overlaying, I think they call it, for the purpose of tricking people, and starting another so called mystery, that's the problem with film, people can decieve others so easily, it is strange though, but Rev Rodimer made a really good point about the wire recorder, I'm sure that there is a logical explaination for this, but time travel is not the answer here, that's totally impossible.

It could be possible that the mobile 'phone signal propagates through the quantum vortex (that delivered the transvestite to 1928) and communicates with a tower of that era. It must be in our future, because we don't have time travel yet, and at the rate 'phone technology is developing, by the time we get time travel iPhones will be so hyper-miniaturised that they'll probably be like an earring.

But I was more concerned about the other transvestite, the one dressed as a man, with the plutonium powered prosthetic legs! The Irishman was so busy ogling the man (dressed as a woman) that he missed that!

I supposed the invisible cell phone towers no one can see are hooked up to an invisible internet so all the "special" people in 1928 were getting messages only they could read.
