    Christians we Admire

Name three Christians you admire, living or dead.

One must be American, one must be foreign, and at least one must be a woman.

    1. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, for a lifetime helping the poor and downtrodden in the slums of Calcutta.

    2. Rev Martin Luther King Jnr, who ultimately paid with his life to ensure equality and freedom for African Americans.

    3. Former President Jimmy Carter, for his tireless international campaigning for human rights and social justice.

For me, these three people represent the phrase 'Christianity in Action'. Thanks be to God for their holiness and commitment to their respective causes.
In Christ there is no East or West,
    In Him no South or North;
But one great fellowship of love
    Throughout the whole wide earth.
    (W A Dunkerley, 1852-1941)

    1. Teresa was a Cathylick. 'Nuff said.

    2. That colored boy, Martin King, wore a preacher's collar and claimed to preach the word, but all that time he was a whoremongering adulterer. That makes him just as evil as those boy-buggering priests. Why, even lieberal Cathylick sinner JFK knew enough bad stuff about that Negro that he had the FBI follow him around.

    3. Jimmy Carter loves every Marxist dictator on the Earth. He chooses as his friends people who outlaw all worship of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

You didn't even list three Christians.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

She was a papist with a long police record, not a Christian.

None of them are Christians. They're all burning in the pits of hell right now.

If you read any of the works by Jacques Ellul and John Warwick Montgomery you will see that each presents a convincing case that human rights forms a core theme of the Christian gospel. You will find an excellent discussion here.

I'm not exactly surprised to find that contributors (with one or two exceptions) don't agree with the three people I have selected as admirable Christians. So I lay down the gauntlet to you guys: which Christians do you most admire and why?

Billy Graham offers praise for Jesse Helms
                        Fred Jackson - OneNewsNow - 7/5/2008 6:20:00 AM

MONTREAT, North Carolina - The nation's most respected evangelist has added his name to the list of those praising the accomplishments of former Republican Senator, Jesse Helms, who passed away yesterday at the age of 86.

Calling him "my friend and long-time senator from my home state of North Carolina," Billy Graham described Jesse Helms yesterday as "a man of consistent conviction to conservative ideals and courage to faithfully serve God and country based on principle, not popularity or politics."

Try telling that to the Irish. There was nothing 'godly' about the man, he used his religion as an excuse to massacre women and children. In October 1649 he butchered 2000 people in the town of Wexford.

Thankfully his racist and homophobic politics are now a dying breed in North Carolina.

We True Christians™ aren't going to fall for any old nonsense that you happen to peddle, just because someone wrote it down in a book. If you have a point to make, then cite book, chapter, and verse from the King James Bible, and quote it verbatim; don't just rely on what some apostate liberal "theologian" says God meant to say.

In doing so, exactly how did he depart from the Godly precedent set forth in the Old Testament? If I may give just one example, and there are plenty more:

Numbers 31:17-18: Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
