Yes, only the weak minded atheists, who God tells us are fools (Psalms 14:1), fear death. Intelligent Christians fear the wrath of God and the unending torture of eternal damnation.
I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
    Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

Well, I dunno about you, but when I'm driving 80 mph on a 70 mph highway (and still being the slow one comparing to those who fly by me at an estimated 90 mph), I'm glad that most drivers fear death enough to avoid serious accidents.

I'd like a quick summary of how glow-in-the-dark toys work. I've always suspected they're witchcraft, but other people say it's just physics, but they don't understand physics enough to explain how they work.

The point of a discussion board is usually to include things, not leave things out.
                        EXAMPLE

1st contributor .. Hey - does anyone here know about kites?

                        2nd contributor .. Yo - I can prbly help.

1st contributor .. It just goes spinning round, then nosedives Any ideas?

                        2nd contributor .. Yes...

                        1st contributor ..

                        1st contributor ..

                        3rd contributor .. I think we've lost that one.

                        2nd contributor .. No...

4th contributor .. (sotto voce) What a pumpkin!

Can you see the problem? Well no, probably not. It's like when I asked about the asteroid. The Bible records events that physics probably call asteroids falling to earth. My understanding is that, whilst moving, they'd be in a dynamic state but once they landed there'd be considerable damage done.

                        ADONIZEDEK

The inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel.
Adonizedek seeks an alliance with 5 other kings.

Adonizedek .. Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon!

God .. Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand.
Joshua 10 And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died.

Joshua .. Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon and thou Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
vv 12, 13 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Joshua .. Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

I was hoping you could shed some light on this for me, from the point of view of physics. On the way down one of those great stones would have had a similar trajectory to your rows of dots, but not horizontal. Probably oblique. You'll notice I've intentionally included some examples. If I'd left them out you wouldn't know why I was posting at all, would you.

And what are your goals, son? There's only one goal that matters in the long run: to get into Heaven. Other goals are all well and good during your mortal life, but life is short, and eternity is long, long, long. Sinners who died 5,000 years ago and have been burning in Hell since then haven't experienced .0000001% of eternal torture, not even close.
