Thank you for your reply. Do you think the post is meant as a joke? Why would someone not want his wife to learn to read? Is that a standard perspective in this church? Doesn't that promote excessive vulnerability for his beloved should she find herself alone in the world (i.e. widowed, etc.)?

From a strictly Biblical perspective, it's unnecessary (1 Corinthians 14:34-35), and could distract her from more important duties like childbearing (1 Timothy 2:15) and washing floors (Genesis 2:18).

I’m needing help with a rebellious, undisciplined wife. I’d like to find a mentor for me and disciplinarian for her until I’m able to handle her on my own. I’m about to have surgery on my let’s which will leave me unable to keep tabs on her and give her the discipline and obedience training she so desperately needs.

I have absolutely no idea what your let's are but they seem to be related to unnatural fornication. But that is unimportant. The main issue is why you should consult the physicians and not simply Pray?

I'd say that you need to consult your own Spiritual state first. If that is in order, everything else will follow naturally. Based on your post and my initial assessment you need to accept Jesus and become a Christian. Matthew 7:20 tells us that you have a long way to go but we'll certainly help you and Pray for you (and our Prayers, unlike yours, do work). So please persist and keep on contributing to God's favorite Forum!

Thank you for you intelligent and thoughtful response. You are correct. We have both been astray for way too long. We have now come to the church work with God and the leaders and mentors of the church to change our lives, become good Christians and learn the discipline and obedience it takes to have a proper Christian marriage. I know this will take time and lots of effort on our part. We understand it may be a long and sometimes painful journey but know now that it's the right way and the only way it should be.
